Arran Bodega Sherry Cask - 55.8% 70cl

This cask strength delight has been distilled in Lochranza, Isle of Arran. Its rounded nose has hints of milk chocolate brownies, vanilla ice-cream and Turkish Delight, with a heavy palate of rich fruits, hard boiled sweets and strawberry laces.

Highland Park distillery is located in the north of Scotland, on the Island of Orkney. With this in mind you can begin to understand the rich sea air on the nose paired with a gentle spice. You can find a heavy hit of smoke and citrus zest followed by a biscuit sweetness, followed by fresh fruit on the finish. Perfect for a chilly winter evening by the campfire!

This Panamanian rum is expertly finished inside a cognac cask, giving it a very rich, French oak nose and rounded body. The combination of the two different casks help to accentuate the natural sweetness of Ron Abuelo. Hints of blackcurrant, cherry and lime coat the palate, followed by a long, smooth finish.

This cigar was an alternative replacement for a faulty Cuban I had ordered and thank goodness for that! What a smoke, beautiful draw, even burn with a sweet and cocoa like taste coming through. I am gobsmacked by how nice this cigar was, I certainly canÂ’t afford to smoke these too often but I will definitely be treating myself to another one some time.

At first sight this looks to be a well made nice cigar, but appearances can be deceptive. After cutting the end and lighting up I encountered a very tight draw throughout and the strong flavour tasted a lot like old leather and not a lot else. The smell wasn’t that pleasant either! The last 1/4 was very hot. All in all a disappointing smoke really, but I persisted until the end (about 25 minutes all told). Not a cigar I will be revisiting I’m afraid.
