Borkum Riff Ruby is a Cavendish style blend, made from fermented Burley and Kentucky tobacco. As is the trademark style, the cherry casing is noticeable, but doesn’t totally dominate the taste of the tobacco. There is a pleasant, toasty and sweet taste from the tobacco, which harmonises nicely with the casing. Speaking of which; the cherry taste is pleasantly fresh and they’ve also snuck a hint of vanilla in there, but cherry is very much the focal point of the blend.

We’re moving into Scandinavian territory now with “The Remarkable Dane,” Alsbo Ruby. As you might well know, Scandinavian aromatics are characterised by a slightly more reserved approach to casing than their American brethren. This means the taste is usually more balanced between tobacco and casing. This isn’t to say the tobacco is strong; Alsbo Ruby’s mixture of cured Black Cavendish, Golden Virginias and fine Burley is pronounced without being overwhelming and balances nicely against the unusual black cherry & wild cherry combo of the casing.

I purchased this as it was Cigar of the week. Im new to cigars and found this drew well and wasnt harsh at all, even in the final 3rd. Lasted 25 minutes and I would buy again.
I did experience a slight uneven burn but wasnt a big issue.

Bought this to see how the smaller Romeo was.
Unfortunately I had the same experience of the other reviewers, this was very tight and didnt draw well at all.

I think I was overly influenced by the tasting notes and reviews. Its a nice smoke but the flavours and aroma are not what I was hoping for. That said it is a small delight, its mellow and mild, no sign of bite or harshness its pleasantly sweet but not too sweet with interesting and quite lovely flavours but not as described (to my pallet) . I have enjoyed it but it lacks something, it could do with a little more punch but excellent for new pipe smokers.
I score it 4 stars in comparison I give Elizabethan Mixture 5 plus and My Mixture 3 plus
