Rafael Gonzalez Perlas Cigar - 1 Single
Date Added: Saturday 07 July, 2018
I’m not a football man, but today’s euphoria at England’s win against Sweden sucked me in enough to want to celebrate with a nice cigar. I’d had a crack at a Quintero Favoritos earlier in the evening, which promised more than it ended up delivering. The RG Perlas is happily a different matter altogether. Beautifully constructed, I’m guessing box pressed, as mine has slightly square shoulders, but flawless is every way. Aromas before lighting it came across well with a sweetness that makes you want to taste it even more. The draw unlit wasn’t tight but required more effort than say a robusto or similar gauge. Once lit though, there is enough smoke there to negate any need for an easier draw. Burn was near perfect all the way through and it holds its ash really well. In the first few draws the sweetness is prominent, but settles down to become the underpinning of other flavours. There is hay, nuts and maybe even a hint of spice there, perhaps a hint of toasted coffee or dark chocolate too, maybe even a bit of nutmeg? It starts milder and gets stronger as it goes, but ne

Quintero Favoritos Cigar - 1 Single

A Cuban robusto for a little over a tenner, where’s the catch? Price is not something i think about much when buying a cigar, as I am an infrequent smoker, but although I have old favourites, I like to work my way through a good variety of cigars. Robusto is my favoured size, as it gives a cool easy draw and much of the flavour associated with the larger vitolas, in a more compact smoke. So this was one I’d wanted to try for some time, but as with most cigars, a little humidor time can often help bring out the best. Construction is average, but that’s not a criticism, as it’s more than adequate, with quite veiny leaves used in the wrapper and a few minor discolourations. The cap is well attached and you’re not going to get any unravelling from making a big cut. Colour is a nut brown and the aroma unlit is of cedar and earth. To the touch this is a slightly spongy cigar, which i felt may be indicative of a loose construction and less tobacco leaves used, so essentially built to a price. It lit easily and first impressions were of ceadar, leather and maybe a slight nut

Montecristo Puritos Cigar - Pack of 5
Date Added: Saturday 07 July, 2018
I love these! Didn’t buy these from CGars, purchased from a local tobacconist, and they are amazing. Smoke with purpose, you’ll finish one in 15 mins, but smoke leisurely, and these can last you 25-30 mins! As others have said, despite being machine made, they look rustic, almost hand rolled. All the nutty, spicy flavours of a Cuban in a pocket sized pack. Give them a go!

JANUARY SALE - Montecristo No. 4 Cigar - 1 Single
Date Added: Friday 06 July, 2018
Im relatively new to smoking cigars so keep that in mind when reading this review. I purchased a box of 5 and my first impression was that these cigars smell fantastic, very rich and chocolately. As for the construction the wrappers on at least 2 of the 5 are wrinkled in places and look like they could easily tear and seams are quite visible, the binder/filler look fine however all 5 cigars feel very firm, almost rock solid. The draw is incredibly tight and I found myself having to really fight to get a decent smoke output, which for me takes away from the experience. As a cigar newbie I found the flavours to be very pleasing to begin with, earthy and woody with hints of spice that become more prominent on the retrohale however the spice was never overwhelming and the smoke was silky smooth. Unfortunately I hit serious problems about half way into the cigar, the draw remained very tight and I had to relight twice in 10 minutes! When it went out for a 3rd time I admitted defeat and gave up. The 4 remaining cigars will go in my humidor to be aged, I really hope I have a better experien

Montecristo Petit Tubos Cigar - 1 Single
Date Added: Thursday 05 July, 2018
Had this as part of the Jack Frost Sampler. I’m new to cigars but so far I find you can’t go too wrong with a Montecristo. The draw on this one, however, was a bit tough but it did become easier and I was rewarded with more defined flavours later in the smoke. Though enjoyable, this won’t be my go-to cigar as overall it was mostly mild, the cigar equivalent of a Latté, if you will.
