Montecristo No. 2 Cigar - 1 Single

Has suffered periods of inconsistent construction and quality, especially in the late 90s - early 00s. More recently, the sticks look fabulously dark, rich, oily and well rolled. They light well, and draw well, but the aroma and flavor are a bit shallow and harsh unless aged for at least two years. Its still better at three years, which is as old as Ive been able to obtain a #2 of the newer, better, quality. One of the best cigars Ive ever smoked was an 18 year old MC #2, but Im convinced that compared to now, MC has changed its blend to save money. None of the MCs currently live up to their grand history. Too bad...

Montecristo No. 2 Cigar - Pack of 3

Jeez, call me crazy but this is THE most overrated cigar on earth. Ok, Ive only smoked 3: my first in Amsterdam as a rookie smoker, my second weeks after receiving a piramide sampler from Mitchell and my third a year later from the same sampler. The results were deep, rich and aromatic taste one moment - the next the taste of a cigarette! For a Montecristo, these appear to have little consistency. Stick with the Vegas Unicos.

Solid medium-powered flavors of wood, spice and a splash of some dark notes within this oft-heralded piramide.

I thought that this was an exquisite smoke, a great size for when you are going out and it is a very smooth smoke with a hint of nuttiness and a little spice, do not be put off by the size its still a rather long smoke and definately one to try.
