Cavalier Geneve Black Label II Toro Cigar - 1 Single
Date Added: Saturday 18 May, 2024
Real treat of a stick. Well constructed, and the gold leaf is a great touch. Cold draw seemed peppery, nice and loose. Had some difficulty removing the black band but not an issue. Lots of coffee, dark chocolate as expected from a Maduro. Pepper came towards the end. I loved the smoke. Creamy and thick especially in the middle. Definitely one to get again!

Mitchellero Peru Petit Robusto Cigar - 1 Single
Date Added: Saturday 18 May, 2024
A very nice cigar started off with a bit of pepper slight creamy/ smooth complexion for first half inch. Next part of the development came a small amount of nutty taste then went into dark chocolate about 85%-90% leading to small coffee flavour. The end of the cigar was were it really opened up for me and all the development came together and tasted a bit like a Ferrero Rocher with a hit of coffee. I paired this with a coffee with bit of rum and demerara sugar with maple/cinnamon syrup. The only bad part of the cigar was the out wrapper came apart on me, my wife's didn't as much but did alittle. Was a lovely draw and ash hold great, lasted for about 1h25mins well worth a try.

Vasco Da Gama Sumatra Corona Cigar - 1 Single

I've had this out of the tube, ageing with various new world and cubans for a number of years (at a guess perhaps five years?) so I'd say this is well aged now. Not one single re-light throughout. Medium to mild with hints of spice, but no strong flavour. Smooth and mellow with lots of smoke. A slight bitterness on the aftertaste, and disappointingly lightweight ash, which likes to drop off, a lot! I can't fault it for the price though, but this one and only example I have has no doubt benefited from mingling with better sticks. Loses on point on the ash, and another for being pre-cut.

Gurkha Ghost Shadow - Robusto Cigar - 1 Single

Smoked this after giving it a straight cut which I am glad I chose over a punch cut as the draw was a little tighter than I would have liked. That said, this is a very well constructed cigar - same as Davidoff standards and the dark brown wrapper could deceive you into thinking this will be a much stronger cigar. The wrapper had an almost fresh, hay like aroma to it with a sprinkling of mint - both of which were present in the smoke itself, alongside an almost leathery finish. The ash held for a solid 2-2.5 inches before departing and the flavours were consistent throughout. I enjoyed this for around 60-70 minutes with a coffee. Not quite the thick plumes of smoke I enjoy with other cigars but an enjoyable cigar and one I would plan to have on hand in the humidor.

Cusano Dominican Selection Robusto Cigar - 1 Single

Had a few of these from the excellent Dog walking package. Obviously the entry level robusto in the pack but punches above its price tag. Lovely flavour throughout, no tightness in the draw. Can get a little ragged at the end but treat it right and it will reward with a satisfying 30 min smoke.

Juliany Corojo Chisel Cigar - 1 Single

A very good light cigar that is consistent and has a great smoke output. The Puro is loosely wrapped and so be careful if cutting as this can affect the construction of this great cigar. I was very pleasantly surprised by this one and it is an ideal 'daily' go to Puro that has good flavour...for my palate coffee, cream and nuts.Light on the draw and one I thoroughly enjoyed. You may need to relight this one every now and then, however, overall this is a very nice smoke and reminds me of the cigars that were originally smoked by Che and others in the old Cuban revolution days - simple, enjoyable and a bit of fun too!
