Wow, what a smoke. I'm new to cigars so I don't have much to benchmark against but this was the cigar that peaked my interest. It was a very smooth smoke throughout, nice woody and leathery flavours blending into light and sweet spice further down. I found the flavour profile quite complex which kept me interested throughout. Took about an hour to smoke. Will definitely have again.

I must have had a bad roll with my first experience of charatan. After cutting, three large cracks appeared that ran up the length of the cigar to the band. The wrapper also started peeling off even though it had not been cut above the cap. The draw on the cigar was very poor and the flavour very one dimensional, most probably due to the damage. It did appear to be very tightly wrapped and the cracks almost "pinged" open after cutting. Would not buy again after this experience.

A very nice a good tasting cigar, 50 mins of bliss on a lovley stary eveining . I shall be purchesing more for my humidor.

As rather a beginner, this for me was a brilliant budget cigar - the first low end cigar that provides a really substantial and satisfying smoke.
Well structured with a good even draw and burn. Good rich flavours to relish, and moist freshness. Smokes for 30 minutes or so and gives a real sense of fulfilling satisfaction by the end, and a slight narcotic tranquility.
For me high prices take the fun out of smoking, so a low cost epic like this suits me to the ground.

Earlier this year my review of this cigar was not favourable due to it being plugged. The replacement was so different I felt a new review was in order. This example was extremely well behaved and didn't go out once. I take back what I said about the lack of flavour - this one was a very nice smoke with plenty of Cuban must and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would now consider buying more of these in the future.

Montecristo No. 2 Cigar - 1 Single

This is my first Montecristo No.2, and I can sat without any hesitation that it will not be my last, (God willing of course). A beautifully constructed cigar amongst the best I have ever seen at any price. The draw is as Bill mentions in his review, is simply heavenly, cool and easy with no effort required whatsoever. The flavour is full with a lovely balance of spice, nuttiness and creamy cedar, even my wife commented on how lovely the smell from it was and that's no mean feat! The burn is even with no need to re-light even when left for a few minutes. This is a treat even amongst the very finest of cigars and one that in time, I will come to look upon as an old friend, who's company while not frequent is very much welcome. The Montecristo No.2 is a very fine cigar with a well deserved reputation which it happily lives up to and exceeds, if you haven't yet tried one, you really should do so, as you are missing out on a bonafide giant killer. I cannot wait to see another in my humidor!
