Partagas Shorts Cigar - 1 Single
Date Added: Thursday 14 September, 2017
A consistent even smoke and draw on this cigar. Blue grey smoke and solid ash. The strength definitely increased as the cigar smoked. It was very mild at the beginning but certainly picked up towards the end. Slightly shorter smoke but not to quick. Only the second one of these that I have had and certainly impressed more than the first time, perhaps from several months resting in my humidor. I shall have to explore the Partagas range further. Classy red and gold band. Karl.

Peterson Balkan Mixture Pipe Tobacco 50g (Tin)

This is a delicious blend with no component overpowering the rest. If you like Latakia (and I do) there's enough here to keep you interested, but not so much that it should put off those who dislike excessive Latakia. The perique is balanced beautifully as a condiment and links the Latakia and Virginias smoothly. It's not really a Balakan blend, but it is very good.

Paired nicely with a Black India Pale Ale, good flavour and an easy draw. Will definitely order more.

Punch Petit Coronations Tubed Cigar - 1 Single

What an absolute pearler of a smoke! I've had several machine made cigars in my time but never a real one before today. After a dismal first foray with another brand of cigar I had a break of an hour or so and a hearty meal before a second attempt with the Punch Petit Coronations Tubed Cigar. Without the requisite experience to properly qualify this cigar I'll simply say that it worked and worked well. A lovely aroma out of the tube and a satisfying, quality feel in the hand and mouth. It cut very cleanly in spite of my inexperience and while it took some time to light (newbie nerves) it lit evenly and well. The draw was easy and cool with plenty of smoke. With no real benchmark for the flavours produced I'll just say that it was interesting and pleasant, changing from light and easily overpowered by black IPA in the first half to richer and spicier in the second where it easily held it's own. White Zinfandel certainly worked as a catalyst in the first third but quickly lost it's edge as the flavour of the cigar developed. A great smoke, even for a newbie, definitely on my 'appro

I love these babies! There's a reason they're one of my favourites. Well rolled with a nice, subtle, sweet aroma. An easy draw with plenty of smoke. They hold their ash well and burn evenly. Smooth and nutty with a hint of fruit and spice is the best way I can describe the taste, the pre-draw is a kind of sweet woody. There's not a great deal of variation in flavour throughout, it gets a bit spicier towards the end yet maintains that amazing nuttiness. I've had these with single malt scotch, bitter lemonade, coffee, water, and even Weizenbier (German wheat beer). I smoke these down to the last 3/4 inch or so, I love them so much! For me, these are great. Perfect for when you want to enjoy a great, mild smoke, but don't want to spend too long. Admittedly, if you like a strong, complex smoke with lots of variation in flavour, these won't be to your taste. I try to have a few of these in my humidor at all times.
