Perdomo 20th Anniversary Connecticut Robusto Cigar - 1 Single
Date Added: Thursday 07 September, 2023
What a cigar! I have tried many different cigars and very rarely do I write a review for them but I just had to say how enjoyable this smoke is. I like the more ‘mild’ cigar and this one is ideal for my taste. I got a good clean cut, it lit very well and at no point did I have to touch it up. I got plenty of smoke throughout and I’d describe the flavour as ‘sweet’ from start to finish. This cigar is definitely up there in my top 3 and if you like the more ‘mild - medium’ cigar then give this a try, you won’t regret it.

Definitely full strength, or perhaps my palate as I usually prefer mild-medium, light and creamy cigars vs the dark richness that this cigar brings. On light I was punched with strength, leather, rich and earthy flavours. Perfect draw, perfect burn and smooth. Plumes of thick smoke and power. Not a morning smoke and not for beginners. I would recommend on the basis it a perfect example of a rich, dark and strong maduro cigar. I will leave the other 2 I have in my humidor for another 12 months before attempting this one again.

This is my favourite tobacco. Great taste, with a cool smoke and just enough nicotine to be satisfying.

Plasencia Reserva Original Robusto Cigar - 1 Single

This cigar is very well constructed with a solid wrapper, binder and filler that all come together to make a very consistent smoke that doesnt burn too hot and offers respectable plumes of smoke. I smoked using a punch cut and got a consistent draw on it for a 60-minute smoke, no re-lighting required. Ash holds well, only departing after reaching about 1.5 inches. Not particularly flavoursome but I do generally prefer richer cigars. However, the flavour was pretty consistent and offered pleasant toasted almond, almost butter-biscuit type notes. Enjoyed it with a coffee after dinner but it could just as easily be enjoyed as a morning smoke or afternoon treat. Its a good-looking cigar so would make a great gift without breaking the bank, especially for someone new to cigar smoking who might get nic-sick from a stronger smoke.

Im pretty new to cigars, only started smoking them around 2 months ago and had maybe 20~ different sticks in that time. This is far and above my favourite thus far, it is dark and earthy, rich with subtle sweetness, black pepper and dark chocolate notes and a thick creamy smoke. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

Peterson Avoca Series - 3 Pipe Bag 141 (POU141)
Date Added: Sunday 20 August, 2023
Beautifully made, as all Peterson stuff is, however it is only any use for straight pipes. The interior has three fixed straight tubes, picture only appears to show 1, which means you cannot get three bent stem pipes in it. Three straight pipes fit with ease but the only way to get 2 bent stem pipes in is to play pipe Tetris, remove the stems and arrange the stems and bowls between the tubes until you can close the lid. For bent pipes the Grafton hard shell case appears to be the better solution but check first. So i either need to buy a different case or take a scalpel to the tubes and cut away the stitching holding them in. Disappointed, text needs to say it only takes straight pipes, Petersons own website doesnt mention this fact, and the picture needs updating to show the three tubes. With these details i would not have bought this case.
