ROMEO Y JULIETA

Named after William Shakespeare’s tragic lovers, the origins of Romeo y Julieta as a Havana date back to 1875.

The brand rose to international fame during the early years of the 20th Century under the direction of Don ‘Pepin’ Rodriguez, a talented promoter who was amongst the first to recognise the power of the cigar band. During his heyday no less than 20,000 different bands were used in the production of cigars.

Winston Churchill became a devotee of the brand and following his visit to Havana in 1946, his name has not only been commemorated on a band, but it has also served to describe the marque’s most famous size – Romeo y Julieta Churchills.

Romeo y Julieta’s balanced and aromatic blend of selected filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo zone make it the classic medium bodied Havana.

Today Romeo y Julieta is as well known around the world as ever and offers one of the widest range of tripa larga, totalmente a mano – long filler, totally handmade – sizes of any Havana brand.

WIDE CHURCHILL

With a name like this it will come as no surprise that this is seen by many as a fine example of the modern trend toward wider ring gauge cigars. One of four Romeo y Julietas to bear the famous Churchill name this is, naturally, the one with the heaviest ring gauge.

Tasting Notes

These cigars are packed full of smooth, subtle, medium flavoured aromas which are the trademark of the Romeo y Julieta brand.

"Dark and oily in appearance, this fat robusto has a soft, spongy head. Wood, earth and floral impressions turn charry before a sweet finish hinting of cinnamon. The draw is thin, and the burn, uneven..."

Have to say I was very disappointed with this cigar. The draw was awful had to suck far to hard for a tiny amount of smoke and the burn was awful too so uneven. The only thing that saved the cigar from 0 stars was that it still tasted good but ended up being a stressful smoke rather than a stress reliving smoke. However Ill just put it down to maybe an inexperienced roller as a friend had the same cigar and loved his. I will be buying one again and hopefully it will be a better smoke and I can re rate it its just disappointing to spend good money on a poor cigar
