San Cristobal de la Habana was the original name of Havana, Cuba's capital city, when it was founded in 1519; San Cristobal (St Christopher) in honour of the Saint of the day where the city was founded, and La Habana after an Indian name for the site.

San Cristobal de la Habana cigars were introduced in 1999 on the threshold of the new Millennium as a tribute to the city's long history.

At first the range comprised just four vitolas, each names after one of the fortresses built from the 16th to the 18th Centuries that defended Havana when it was the hub of Spain's American empire. These are: El Morro, La Fuerza, La Punta and El Principe.

Tasting Notes

An ideal pre dinner smoke. Brief, not too heavy with a nice even burn.

86 / 100

"...Though attractively pressed with an oily wrapper and three-seam cap, the draw of this little cigar is notably firm. Wood and leathery notes turn sharp and perfumey..."

Dark. Oily. Delicious. Spicey. Robust. Combine all that with a thick mouthful of smoke and you have a wonderful cigar. A great way to spend a half-hour alone when wanting to momentarily escape a hectic afternoon. written by Richard

A real little power house! Smoked this one to the nub. The construction was great, an even burn, and the ash was a light grey. The taste had a citrus quality, spicy, and tapered to a long leathery finish. written by Michael

Very impressed with this little beauty. Built for speed and comfort, very nice on the old taste buds, nice aroma, lasts a decent length and enjoyable to the last puff. I enjoyed this particular cigar with a bottle of Kasteel Kru after a nice meal, both go hand in hand, also enjoyed with a nice Speyside Whisky called Tomatin, brings out the heavy and wooded aroma's which makes it outstanding. Enjoy! written by Stefan
