The Por Larrañaga Picadores is an exclusive line for La Casa del Habanos and Havana Cigar Specialists. Measuring 5” (127mm) x 48 ring gauge (Hermosos No.4), the cigars are presented in dressed boxes of 25 and joins the Petit Corona which is the only other Por Larrañaga vitola currently available in the UK Habanos standard portfolio.

Por Larranaga is a brand with a long history. Founded in 1834, it enjoys a well earned reputation for its consistency and good presentation. Por Larrañaga cigars are handmade using long-filler tobacco leaves harvested from the world famous Pinar del Rio region of Cuba.

Presented in dressed boxes of 25, the Montecarlo measures 6¼“ x 33 ring gauge and is the latest addition to the UK Por Larrana gaportfolio.

The cigars are Tripa Larga (long filler) and carry the distinct aromas found in this light to medium brand.

Tasting Notes

88 / 100

"...There are some greenish veins on the wrapper of this tawny robusto, which draws and burns evenly. It's a sweet-and-spicy cigar with notes of ginger snap, tangy earth and almond paste..."

Had one of these today in the smoking lounge in Turmeaus Chester. Truly delicious cigar. The draw was absolutely perfect, smoke bellowing out - very cool and fresh in the first third, nice light flavours. Excellent cigar from start to finish, one I’ll be having again and again.

Very enjoyable afternoon smoke. Slightly tight draw with a v cut at first then changed to straight cut. Slightly uneven burn but that did not detract from the mild creamy taste throughout the whole of the cigar. As per a previous review the taste remained fairly constant throughout but I enjoyed the flavour so that is always a plus. Very mild so may not suit everyone but I will be buying again. Only a four due to uneven burn

This is such an underrated cigar in my opinion, at at least I don't believe it gets the praise it deserves. A great way to spend 45 minutes to an hour, simply put. Expect a medium strength smoke, with a consistent, non offensive experience from start to finish. Yes, the flavours are a little one dimensional with no real development, but the chocolate, earth and slightly peppery tones are a delight to behold. I brought 15 of these back with me from Havana and think they'll only get better with age. Yes, you can probably get a bigger smoke for your money, but give one a try and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised

These cigars have really improved with a little age, becoming more complex and balanced. Opening on the mild side for a Havana, the first third was predominantly lovely soft woody flavours with a slight pepper through the nose and a little cream building up, rather like a good El Rey del Mundo. Into the second third the flavours really opened up displaying some of that Por Larrañaga caramel sweetness and hints of citrus fruit, becoming more creamy and certainly a solid medium body. The final third still retained all those flavours but had a little more gentle exotic spice and strength, though started becoming hot by the last inch, which should soften out with a bit more age and there still seems to be a fair bit of room for the subtleties to come out more in a few years. The appearance and construction were excellent with a razor straight burn, wonderful easy draw with just a gentle resistance and a solid ash that held on for an inch or so at a time.
