Jose L. Piedra is a particularly noteworthy Habano not only because its blend is composed of filler tobaccos grown exclusively in the Remedios tobacco region, but also because it is made using the totally hand made, short filler technique.

The Piedra family came to Cuba in the 1880's from the Spanish province of Asturias. They settled near the town of Santa Clara, which lies at the heart of the Remedios region where tobacco has been grown since the 16th century, and started to make cigars.

Tasting Notes

This medium-bodied cigar will provide an earthy taste with a great draw and creamy smoke. Hints of salt and tanginess will hit the lips giving an interesting flavour.

Badly made, wrapper undid itself without much prompting. Very uneven burn on most of the 5 I tried. Taste nothing special, not very strong. An undemanding smoke - both on the senses, and thankfully the pocket. written by Andrew J Mellor GBR

A light cigar in all senses of the word. Light in weight, body, aroma, taste and on the wallet. Looks, smells and feels like a havana but doesnt provide the havana smoking experience - due to short filler leaves and sub standard tobaccos. Fine for a cigar but isnt in the same league as bonafide habanos written by JR

Having smoked the rest of these , I found them inconsistant. Can be rather loosely filled with a slightly bitter , dry finish. If you get a good one they are well worth the money.Overall can only reccomend if price is the main issue. written by Richard
