EL REY DEL MUNDO

The Cuban cigar brand of El Rey Del Mundo was believed to be first created in 1848 by German businessman Emilio Ohmstedt who also created Sanch Panza cigars. After Ohmstedt’s death the Cuban cigar company was passed on to Antonio Allones sometime around 1882. El Rey Del Mundo (or ‘King of the World’ in Spanish) was at one time the most expensive and prestigious cigar brand in the world - Under Allones’ command it reached the height of its prestige.

Allones’ company was later bought out by the Diaz Hermanos y Cia venture owned by Candido Vega Diaz who then later renamed themselves the Rey Del Mundo Cigar Co. To highlight their most famous asset, although other brands such as Sancho Panza, Rafael González, and Don Cándido were also produced by them.

The success lives on to this day in a selected range of Habanos renowned for its light to medium flavour and consistency.

All sizes contain a blend of filler and binder tobacco from the Vuelta Abajo zone and are made by the ‘tripa larga, totalmente a mano’ – long filler, totally handmade technique.

DEMI TASSE

A fine example of the smallest format made by hand in Cuba - Tiny but tasty!

Tasting Notes

The Demi Tasse is a mild cigar but full of substance. It certainly gets better with age, so stash a few of these a way and in 10 years time they'll be a perfect smoke.

87 / 100

"A charming little cigar with subtle box-pressing and a three-seam cap. The smoke is flinty and earthy with graham cracker notes and a mineral finish...."

Unfortunately experience was spoilt by a very tight draw. Only good decent smoke output in the food nan third and for such a small cigar is very disappointing.

Perfect quick hand made cigar for a short break. Good premium alternative to machine rolled cigars. David - C.Gars Ltd Cigar Ambassador

Lovely mild cigar with a huge draw back. Packed far too tight the taste was perfect when I could get a good draw which was like maybe a third of the cigar so disappointing

I consider myself a beginner to the world of smoking cigars still after approx 12-18 months of smoking. I got one of these cigars as a sample pack and was looking forward to smoking it. After lighting, I found it had an incredibly tight draw and took some effort to get any amount of smoke to my mouth. When I did manage to, I found the flavour to be quite nice, but the effort of trying to draw smoke spoilt the whole experience. I had to relight several times also. I wouldnt buy another of these. There are many others similar size for a lower price that I prefer.
