EL REY DEL MUNDO

The Cuban cigar brand of El Rey Del Mundo was believed to be first created in 1848 by German businessman Emilio Ohmstedt who also created Sanch Panza cigars. After Ohmstedt’s death the Cuban cigar company was passed on to Antonio Allones sometime around 1882. El Rey Del Mundo (or ‘King of the World’ in Spanish) was at one time the most expensive and prestigious cigar brand in the world - Under Allones’ command it reached the height of its prestige.

Allones’ company was later bought out by the Diaz Hermanos y Cia venture owned by Candido Vega Diaz who then later renamed themselves the Rey Del Mundo Cigar Co. To highlight their most famous asset, although other brands such as Sancho Panza, Rafael González, and Don Cándido were also produced by them.

The success lives on to this day in a selected range of Habanos renowned for its light to medium flavour and consistency.

All sizes contain a blend of filler and binder tobacco from the Vuelta Abajo zone and are made by the ‘tripa larga, totalmente a mano’ – long filler, totally handmade technique.

DEMI TASSE

A fine example of the smallest format made by hand in Cuba - Tiny but tasty!

Tasting Notes

The Demi Tasse is a mild cigar but full of substance. It certainly gets better with age, so stash a few of these a way and in 10 years time they'll be a perfect smoke.

87 / 100

"A charming little cigar with subtle box-pressing and a three-seam cap. The smoke is flinty and earthy with graham cracker notes and a mineral finish...."

El Ray Del MundoDemi Tasse, what a beautiful constructed cigar, just love the size.Dark caramel in colour.Very firm to squeeze, but good. This beauty shouts excellence. Once Lit,there is heat,in the first 3rd,white pepper sizzle, retro was fairly hot,but only momentarily, soon calmed down, good flavour .The draw is not tight,I would say firm. There is something nice in the background, but can not pin it down. Approaching the 2nd 3rd, it's like a different cigar, gone a lovely mellow ,yummy. The cigar does not billow out smoke, but saves it ,till you draw on it. The 3rd,3rd introduces some heat again, and the flavour I could not pin down early, intensifies ,really tasty. Approaching the finger tip burn.superb.Lasted 30 min,and I wanted more.Just checked taste description, which mentions a mineral flavour, prehaps that's what I was trying to identify. This is one short cigar worth every penny. Highly recommend for a mellow stick with a kick.Try it.

My wife's favourite cigar as she prefers a lighter cigar to me but still likes to enjoy the smoking experience with me It lit very easily with a slight background Cuban twang with a few floral notes it stayed lit and burnt evenly but I preferred the fonseca range with has more pronounced floral notes but still a good cheap light Cuban cigar for the price especially with prices nowadays

My first cigar and still the best yet, only reason I didn't give 5☆ is the price, which for me seems a little excessive for the size of the stick but I suppose you're also paying for the name!!! That said I will buy more at some point.

This was ok, I just finished it today for a quick break on my lunch while working from home and nice weather. Had it with an espresso and it was good. There was a little tar / oil build up however which I’ve not had before but could of been because I was going too quick

Nice little cigar. Perhaps a little pricey for the size but no issuee with construction. Much more pepper than its bigger brother ( choix supreme) but otherwise you can tell they are related. No issues with draw in the 3 I?ve had. Overall very nice way to spend 20 mins.
