A.J. FERNANDEZ

Raised in Cuba and steeped in the rich tradition of the Fernandez cigar legacy, A.J. produces unparalleled premium cigars in Esteli, Nicaragua. Ensuring superior quality, the day-to-day operations are managed under the watchful eye of A.J. with assistance from the rest of his extended family.

A.J. is a family-oriented cigar company based in Miami, Florida. All cigars were blended by A.J. for his personal portfolio and each brand is a unique smoking experience, a testament to A.J’s talent as a tobacco grower and blender. All components of each blend are selected based on strength, aroma and flavour in order to achieve a smooth and balanced smoking experience.

A.J. is truly a master of the fine art of balancing a cigar, always finding that perfect sweet spot of richness and flavour.

Strategically located within the rich and fertile grounds of Nicaragua, AJ has made huge investments all throughout the country in order to produce his very own tobacco from all the major growing regions. A.J. owns and operates 2 cigar factories in Nicaragua. Tabacalera AJ Fernandez de Nicaragua, SA is located in the heart of tobacco country in Estelí, Nicaragua and the San Lotano factory is located 70 km north in Totogalpa.

These 2 factories allow A.J to craft over 100,000 cigars per day all by hand. The artisans that put together the blends and form each cigar we get to enjoy do so employing time honoured methods that have been handed down to AJ from generations past.

NEW WORLD

AJ’s first collaboration with his Father Ismael is a nod to the discovery of tobacco and its introduction to the rest of the world in 1492.

The New World is a true work of art blended with the finest tobaccos found in the four main tobacco regions of Nicaragua. Hand selected wrapper and fillers from Esteli, Ometepe, Condega and Jalapa are showcased in a beautiful medium to full bodied box pressed cigar.

Just like the New World Oscuro Navegante Robusto, these smaller smokes are handmade at the A J Fernandez factory in Nicaragua and contain the same all Nicaraguan blend - a dark oscuro wrapper from Esteli with a Jalapa binder and filler from Ometepe, Condega and Esteli.

A sublime 30 minute escape. Even burn and perfect construction. 10/10. Strong enough to take you to the edge without pushing you over. As strong as an Ox, so best smoked on a full stomach. Not for the feint hearted. Full bodied and plenty of oomph! A perfect weekender. Not a morning stick.

Spicy, dark chocolate, forest floor, almonds, minerals, oak, fresh hay and condensed milk. Excellent construction, large robust cap. Perfect draw that produces dense plumes of smoke. Medium to strong, 36 minute smoking time. Very pleasant, slightly earthy but bright aroma. Great value. Buy one if you want to try this brand.

A little cigar that punches well above its weight. I find it strong and spicy but the size means it doesnt become overpowering. The nearest comparison I can think of is Bolivar... Yes you heard right I would compare it to a small Bolivar. One thing I would advise, take it out of the tin remove the plastic and give it a little time in your humidor. Will be making this a regular purchase.

Very well-made cigar, burns reasonably well with a few re-lights, draw perfect, medium strength, interesting flavours, no bitterness, quite a gentle smoke, and for the price well worth trying. I agree with Robin, peppery in beginning becoming more mellow.

Great construction, perfect draw, burn and smoke output on this fiery little pepper bomb.
