Reviewed by Mihai (March 2004) Cohiba Siglo I Manufactured: March 2003 Jesus Christ, people! Can't believe I'm starting by saying this, but here it is, we finally reached the age where the stifling political correctness slowly (but surely) kills every inch of legal decadence left. Cigars in this case! I wouldn't be surprised if one day the Dept. of Health turned up saying, that's it, you can't post these reviews no more, it's against tobacco "advertising" regulations!! Jesus Christ, I say in HORROR, one more time! But simply to the point: The Siglo I was, for myself, a superb discovery. For such a short size, it's a power rocket of sheer indulgence and pleasure, all wrapped up in a stick of truly impeccable construction, with the easiest draw you ever dreamed of! Its milk chocolate wrapper was of superb smell and feel, slightly oily for its rather young age. On the upper side of Medium, this cigar allows unhindered flavours of earth and young leathers, in a voluptuously reach aroma which lasts till the very end. The first inch was a delight of flavoursome cool smoke, woody spice but not overpowering (important!) as a Montecristo or even other Cohibas. The second one became 'settled in', maintaining the same array of complex flavour with a touch of rich, dark chocolate this time (I have to say here that this is simply what it tasted like to me, it probably won't to you, which is why I am generally against reviews over-abundant in culinary-style descriptions of cigars). This cigar never got bitter (as a matter of fact, most Cubans, if smoked properly - i.e. not drawn on heavily - shouldn't become bitter/harsh at all) and maintained a lingering aftertaste of unobtrusive earthy saltiness. The burn was reasonably uniform and I only parted with the cigar (with fashionably heavy heart), about 1 inch to the end. I managed to get between 20-30 minutes of enjoinment from my Siglo I, coupled with a glass of 10-year old Port. Now, please don't get me wrong, I am by no means a "seasoned" or "experienced" cigar smoker, but this Cohiba did live up to its reputation in my eyes. My rating out of 5? 5 and a big half, please! I hope I managed not to bore you all to death here with a page-long review full of phantasmagoric remarks and post-modern monologues, spiced with self-reflections and inner meditation about a cigars. I thought these pages were just a touch too full of such creations. Aside from 1/3 being a commentary on the reviewer's "seasoning" and anit-smoking laws, this was a good review to read. Gives a nice taste description of the cigar vitola [a nice bonus that he smoked two to compare] and some comparisons. Would have liked to see a few more notes and a little less on how he is not a 'cigar - chef' Reviewed by Michael L Rating: 6.8/10 OK I'm not to sure where the reviewer is going at the beginning of this review, but once I got past the first paragraph, the review gets to the point. I would have liked to know a little more about each stage of the smoke, the look, feel, the pre-light and so on. Use the page to tell me more about the cigar, because the Siglo 1 has a lot to say Reviewed by Scotto. Score 7/10 Excellent review. Clear concise and to the point. Concur with flavour and description and like the style of writing Reviewed by Smokeymo. Score 9/10 OVERALL SCORE: 22.8/30

So it's Christmas morning and I thought I'd start the day of with a siglo 1 I've been anticipating the smoking of this cigar for a few months so I cut the cap and sat there admiring it for a bit took a pre light draw and it seemed a bit tight so I toasted it up and it smelled wonderful when I finally got it a light I couldn't believe how tight it was so I cut of a little bit more no difference it was so tight it was air tight no amount of puffing could get a decent drag out of it so I cut it again to the limit now and still no difference I thought it was me Surley the king of cigar brands can't be this bad so I got the old woman to have a go and she can suck a golf ball thru a hose pipe if u know what I mean but even she couldn't get it to work so it's just sat there in the ash tray in front of me as I write this .to say I was disappointed was an understatement I can't tell you about any of the flavours as I couldn't get any I'm not gonna write them of just hoping the 2 & 3 that I've got arent like it or I'll be sticking with me bolivars just expected something a bit more form a brand like cohiba maybe it was a dodgy one as in tightly rolled not fake

Not a bad little cigar at all. It lasts longer than you might expect for a cigar of this size. Not the smoothest smoke in the world, but burned well and was enjoyable. I would buy again.

Undoubtedly my now personal short smoke of choice. Very well built and comes in a beautiful little tube. Today was my second time trying these. It's a lazy Sunday morning and a little taste of Cohiba magic was perfect for a lazy hour's worth of coffee drinking and internet surfing. The first 3rd starts out wonderfully with all the wonderfull mysterious aromas and smells that are so unique to Cohiba tobacco. This is a cigar with interesting complexities that are never to overbearing. I found the draw perfect and although I did have to relight after the second 3rd I was not too concerned (I only get frustrated at the second relighting). A bit more pricey than the other players in this size range but well worth it.

It is better to buy one decent cigar than five cheap, A cheap cigar you don't enjoy is a total waste of money, A dearer cigar you enjoy is a memorable experience,The Cohiba Siglo I small (Mareva) cigar is without dought the finest and tastiest small cigar you can buy, an excellent build with the iconic Cohiba band, a perfect draw and burn, medium strength with lots of almost perfumed citrus and pepper flavour, this little cigar produces copious amounts of smoke for it's size and the aroma is fabulous, everywhere I have gone outside I have had lots of comments from guys asking me what I am smoking For a 40 minutes or so smoke you cannot beat this cigar and of cause it's a Cohiba the flagship of the Habanos A small cigar with a big kick

OOOOOOO K, so, I've just finished off my first Cohiba, the Siglo 1, picked it up from my local convenience/tobacco shop for 16 quid, I've been an occaisional cigar smoker and have usually stuck by the H.Upmanns simply because that's where I started and am a creature of habit, lately I have been venturing out into other brands and of course the Cohiba brand is extremely attractive as it has such a good name so when I saw this I thought why not.....at £16 from the shop and here at £12 I can 100% say that I was actually dissapointed! The cigar scent and look before lighting was absolute heaven but when lit it all went sideways, a very tight draw firstly made it a little hard work but the flavours were good, then it died, and died again, I think I had to relight this chap at least four times which completely ruined it for me, especially as its only a little fellow! I stayed with it in the hope that suddenly something wonderful will happen! It did'nt, I have'nt reviewed before but I feel bummed out as I was very much looking forward to it and had no time to actually enjoy the flavours as it was so much work! I'm guessing I had a bad stick, but given the price and the name I simply expected it at least to stay lit! Over this Id fully recommend the R&J #3 any day, much better price and as yet not had an even slightly dissapointing smoke! Sorry guys, had to be said! Gutted!
