COHIBA

Cohiba is the flagship brand of Habanos.

It was created in 1966 for President Fidel Castro himself and was made at the then top secret, but now world famous, El LLaguito factory. At first, it was only seen outside Cuba as gifts for heads of state and visiting diplomats.

Since 1982 Cohiba has been available in limited quantities to the open market.

The name is an ancient Taino Indian word for the bunches of tobacco leaves that Columbus first saw being smoked by the original inhabitants of Cuba - the earliest known form of a Habano.

The leaves for Cohiba are the "selection of selection" from the 5 finest Vegas de Primera in San Juan y Martinez and San Luis districts of the Vuelta Abajo zone.

Uniquely amongst Habanos up to three of Cohiba's filler leaves , the seco, ligero and the rare medio tiempo, undergo an additional fermentation in barrels. This unique process produces a special aroma and flavour you will only find in Cohiba.

Cohiba encompasses four different ‘Líneas’ or Lines: Línea Clásica, Línea 1492, Línea Maduro 5 and finally the Línea Behike range.

Through such constant innovation, Cohiba has held its position at the leading edge of the cigar world. It was also the first Havana brand to offer a Reserva cigar in 2002 and a Gran Reserva in 2009 made with tobaccos specially aged for a minimum of three and five years respectively.

SHORTS

An exciting size from one of the most prestigious cigar brands has joined the family of Cuban Minis, Puritos and Clubs.

The Cohiba Short combines the length of a Cuban Mini with the width of a Puritos and is machine-made in Cuba using tobaccos from the same region reserved for Habanos.

The stylish and innovative pack opens to reveal ten cigars each dressed with the iconic Cohiba band. They are also individually wrapped in cellophane to maintain smoking condition and for added protection. This new format is sure to appeal to a wide range of smokers.

Now these I was quite impressed with. I love nutty taste, aroma and a good draw. Well worth the money and great if you only get a short break at work.

Just to balance the books having left a less than gushing review on another relatively small guantanamera cuban, i thought i would express the entirely positive experience i had trying a couple of these. Have to say, that although i expected small i was quite surprised just how short these looked on arrival. However, proved to be a really pleasant little smoke over 15-20 ish minutes with a strong morning coffee. Lit easily, stayed alight, tasted nice, felt well made and a generally very pleasant little cigar that is of course a Cohiba. For the price i would happily buy 5 at a time as an alternative to boxes of 5 Henry Wintermans, or Romeo y J puritos which are also really good and some of my current regular go tos.

This is my first cigar review. Had this little cigar for a birthday present of my daughter along with some others. I was pleasantly surprised how well this cigar burnt, also how long it lasted to say I enjoyed it was an understatement it had a nice flavour all the way through and last 3rd was exceptional, could not tell that this was machine rolled compared to other Cohiba did tried Will definitely be my go to for a quick 20 min smoke Exceptional value

A strong little stick. Just a shame that it was ruined by an uneven burn and a squishy feel that is somewhat reminiscent of a banana thats gone off. Ive heard that Cubans can suffer from quality control issues, so maybe I just had a bad one. Either way, I dont think Ill be buying another one for awhile.
