Description Ref # BO1300

From the cold draw, the Bolívar Royal Corona offers earthy, woody aromas with a touch of barnyard and cocoa. Upon lighting, the cigar immediately asserts its full-bodied nature with bold notes of dark earth, espresso, and black pepper, accompanied by a creamy, dense smoke. The first third is rich and savory, with hints of leathertoasted nuts, and a slight bitter cocoa edge that balances the intensity.

Tasting Notes

Overall Impression:

The Bolívar Royal Corona cigar is a standout Robusto that delivers bold Cuban cigar flavor in a perfectly balanced format. Rich and full-bodied, this cigar offers a deep core of earth, dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and leather, layered with hints of spice and a subtle sweetness that evolves throughout the smoke. Its construction is consistently excellent, with a smooth draw and even burn, making it approachable yet powerful. The Bolivar Royal Corona cigar captures the essence of the Bolívar brand—intense, complex, and satisfying—and remains a top choice for aficionados seeking a classic Cuban cigar with depth, strength, and refinement.

A full flavoured, full strength, spicy and woody tasting cigar. Although the Bolivar Royal Corona cuban cigar is full strength it is never aggressive and the aroma is more subtle than one would expect.

I cant disagree with reviewers comments in relation to flavour but its fair to say I have had issue with the BRCs construction on a regular basis. In the box they consistently look fabulous but their performance when lit can vary wildly .... from the solidly plugged to the odd alarmingly fast burner. Good examples are undoubtedly fine cigars but I've thrown too many away after 5 minutes and several cuts to award top marks.

Have just indulged in my first of these, after a full Sunday roast and appreciated with (firstly) a fresh coffee and (secondly) a dark rum. Currently I'm trying to work out how to muster the money for a full box - this cigar is damned near perfect. Excellent draw from finish to end, never hostile, never bitter, never tarry. Just superb. Strong flavours of coffee and black assam tea, creamy with a cocoa hint, and an aftertaste of smoked mopani wood. Took this fellow all the way to the nub and it could do no wrong. Agree with the other writers that the nicotine hit is something out of this world, and I for one would not consider this cigar on an empty belly. Buy some, and enjoy then on a full stomach, and you might be grinning as much as I am right now.

Well, I must agree with the editors of Cigar Aficionado magazine (Feb. 2007 issue). This was named THE Cigar of the year for 2006. My box arrived in impeccable condition a scant 24 hours after ordering it from MO. POS factory, date code Sept. '06. Pre-smoke inspection revealed a solid, box-pressed shape with perfect uniform construction, size and shape on every single stick. A Slight oiliness on the wrapper. The smoke lit and burned evenly throughout with a light grey ash. The draw was absolutely perfect throughout (I prefer a bullet punch on Robustos). The flavor was strong and powerful, but young, with a strong finish on the palate. A very potent punch midway through as the spiciness really came through. Not a smoke for the faint-hearted, nor would I recommend it on an empty stomach or as a morning smoke. Flavor was complex and spicy with more complex notes towards the middle. I would say overall an EXCELLENT vitola with complex flavor. Again I agree with the editors at CA that these do need to sit and mellow for a few years. I can tell though, that in 3-5 years, these will tame to a VERY rich experience, held for special occasions. +++++ written by John Romano
