VEGUEROS

Originally introduced to the market in 1996 as a full-flavoured tribute to the countless generations of men and women that have cultivated tobacco in the world famous plantations of Pinar del Rio, the brand was relaunched in 2013 with a new medium-to-full bodied blend, new sizes and presented in unique tins of 16 cigars.

Vegueros translates into English as ‘Farmers’ and these cigars have happily maintained their rustic edge. The names of each the new vitolas have also taken inspiration from the Cuban farmers’ vocabulary.

All sizes of Vegueros are ‘tripa larga, totalmente a mano,’ – long filler, totally handmade.

MANANITAS

This unique size is named after the small leaves, and the first ones to be picked, found at the foot of Cuban tobacco plants. An affordable way to enjoy some of Cuba's finest tobacco.

Tasting Notes

This beautiful cigar is a creamy smoke with earth and grass flavours. The more you smoke the cigar, you will be met with hints of pepper which makes this unique cigar a pleasure to smoke.

"A mini torpedo with a firm draw and uneven burn. Peppery and strong, the cigar imparts notes of eucalyptus and ginger that builds to a malty finish..."

For the money, this is an exceptional cigar. Excellent build quality and draw, with no over/underpacked zones. Nice even burn requiring minimal touch-ups. The best thing about these is the full, distinct cuban flavours that are delivered at this price point. Not as complex as the H Upmann half coronas, a favourite of mine, but they don't need to be when they taste this good. I couldn't detect any ammonia or overly strong spice in these; however, they do become quite strong in terms of nicotine delivery after smoking past the label. I'll keep a couple in the humidor for a while as I don't doubt that they'll mellow over time.

This is an update to my previous review dated 05/11/16 where I stated that the first half of this cigar was a little too spicy for my taste. I'd bought 3 of these and smoked the first one almost immediately. The others I left in my humidor for another 2 months before trying again. It was worth the wait. They tasted just as Cgars describe them on this page. Certainly give the Montecristo Media Coronas a run for their money especially considering the price. I've uprated them to 5 STARS. I now must try the Entretiempos.

Wish I'd left this in the humidor a little longer. Heard a lot of good things about this little cigar and keen to try it. Great start cut beautifully and lit perfectly square. After the first quarter though I started to have some issues. A lot of heat in the middle and a uneven burn causing a couple of re lights!! It had a great flavour and definite complexity with some rich woody spice coming through. Will love to buy a couple more and leave them to mature a little.

This small cigar measuring 4” length and 46 ring gauge is, in my opinion a fantastic short full bodied cigar. Absolutely perfect for those short breaks during a cold winter. In the first part you can find lots of strong leathery notes. The smooth and creamy full bodied taste has hints of spicy black pepper. The second part is much milder in comparison to first. More creamy with lots of woody notes and hints of sweet, but full flavoured white pepper. In the third part the strength comes back with fiery black pepper and hints of distinctive ginger. Creamy and spicy, a lovely combination. This cigar is getting very popular in these cold days. A fresh ginger tea or a slightly peated Stalla Dhu Islay whisky is perfect to enhance the spicy flavours. Or, you could pair it with a lovely sweet Stalla Dhu Speyside for a more balanced experience. – David, Turmeaus Liverpool.
