H. UPMANN

H. Upmann is one of the oldest cigar brands in existence, dating back to the 1840s. It was started when Herman Upmann quit his job as a banker in the early 1840’s and went about opening up a branch office in Havana. Upmann quickly realised that he could begin a commercial endeavour in the industry and in 1844 he made the bold investment of a cigar factory and the H. Upmann brand was officially launched.

Later on in 1922, both the Upmann bank and the cigar business went bankrupt and they had to sell up to J. Frankau & Co., a British firm who continued the production of the cigars up until 1935 at which point the brand was sold on again to the recently established Menendez y Garcia Co., the makers of the famous Montecristo cigar. The new owners continued the production of H. Upmann cigars up until the nationalisation of the tobacco industry after the Cuban revolution.

H. Upmann's blend is composed exclusively of filler and binder tobaccos grown in the Vuelta Abajo zone and all H. Upmann sizes are ‘tripa larga, totalmente a mano’ – long filler, totally handmade.

Gold medals in no less than eleven international exhibitions during the 19th Century can be found on the brand's labelled boxes.

MAGNUM 50

Piloted as one of the highly successful 2005 Edicion Limitades, the Magnum 50 entered the range as a standard size in 2008. A big cigar, just over six inches in length, that deliver a rounded, mellow flavour and aroma.

Tasting Notes

89 / 100

"Solidly rolled with a triple cap and flat head. A tart, berry-like quality meets a brown sugar sweetness which combines with molasses notes for a holiday fruitcake effect before the boozy, rum-barrel finish. The combustion is slow and cool, while the draw remains even..."

First let me thank H. Upmann, and (The Cuban people) so much for this great Magnum 50 cigar. Light to Medium, the draw, burn, and construction are amazing. Varied bouquet of Flavors, aromas, and after tastes.. Such as ... earthy, woody, nuts, vanilla, and rich smoke. I will make sure keeps a large number of these woooow fancy sticks in my cigar humidors. Thank you so much C.GARS , Michelle Adler for all excellent choices and services. ✨

In my opinion, one of the best value for money Cuban cigars if you want a milder smoke.

Absolutely beautiful smoke.started a little loose but within minuets the draw was superb. Copious amounts of creamy smoke and a very even burn. Ill be buying a 10 cabinet for sure. Rick.

Has Mild to medium flavour and the draw is perfect throughout the stick and delivers a nice coat of smoke on the palette. flavour wise first third is a a straight tabbacco and pepper which gradually faded into a creamy leather note, there's also a slight grass note which underlings the finish which reminds me a lot like the cohiba grassy ness you tend to get from the Siglo line. Second third still taking the tobacco core pepper has dropped off and has been replaced with the grassy note which had previously been apparent on the finish in the first third now however finish is also stuck with the main characteristics with that creamy leather however there's been and introduction to a slight coffee and coco note which mixes with the cream to deliver a mocha note the only other thing to note is slight strength increase from first light. In the final third the draw flavours are still the same the only change is the coco has faded off the finish and a salty liquorice has been replaced other than the the finish flavours are the same, also strength has had another increase. Good burn ash holds about a inch at a time and the total burn time was 1:23hr
