The introduction of the Magnum 50 marks a milestone in the history of H. Upmann. Announced by Habanos S.A. in February at the 2008 Festival del Habano in Havana, production is now in full swing and the Magnum 50 is a fine favouite among many cigar smokers!

Measuring 6 1/4" length (161mm) and 50 ring gauge, this vitola was first seen as a maduro wrapped Limited Edition release in 2005. The Magnum 50 joins the Magnum 46 (5 5/8" X 46 ring gauge), introduced 25 years ago, to form an important series of heavy girth H. Upmann vitolas in line with the preference of today's cigar enthusiasts.

Has Mild to medium flavour and the draw is perfect throughout the stick and delivers a nice coat of smoke on the palette. flavour wise first third is a a straight tabbacco and pepper which gradually faded into a creamy leather note, there's also a slight grass note which underlings the finish which reminds me a lot like the cohiba grassy ness you tend to get from the Siglo line. Second third still taking the tobacco core pepper has dropped off and has been replaced with the grassy note which had previously been apparent on the finish in the first third now however finish is also stuck with the main characteristics with that creamy leather however there's been and introduction to a slight coffee and coco note which mixes with the cream to deliver a mocha note the only other thing to note is slight strength increase from first light. In the final third the draw flavours are still the same the only change is the coco has faded off the finish and a salty liquorice has been replaced other than the the finish flavours are the same, also strength has had another increase. Good burn ash holds about a inch at a time and the total burn time was 1:23hr

H. Upmann was the first brand I got into and I frequently recommend them for beginners, due to the blend's mild flavour profile. However, the magnum 50 packs considerably more punch than many of the other vitolas, with a surprisingly leathery flavour and sweet, subtle hints of honey. The 50 ring gauge allows plumes of thick smoke from a very easy draw. The increased strength of this stick makes it perfect for people who have enjoyed sizes like the Majestic and Corona juniors, but are yearning for something with a bit more power! -Calum, Turmeaus Chester

Sitting here in the quiet of a lovely evening I finally took out this cigar from a 3 month stint in my humidor and dedicated some quality time to this great cigar. Not a beast of a double or a Churchill but still a suitable size and gauge for some well spent herfing. At first I was a little surprised by the harshness but settling in it transitioned into a wonderfully mellow smoke, easy draw and plentiful white fragrant smoke. Excellent construction and burn, though the ash dropped after less than an inch little flowering and not a single burn issue. In my opinion will only get better with some age to it. The final third is a pleasure and am reluctant to put it down. Soft, mellow and worth every penny. Would I buy again, you bet, but as a box so I can pop them away for a bit and dream of another day when I can sit back with the sun shining and time to dedicate to it. Thankfully still two more maturing away so will have to wait before I can justify to myself to buy again, what a pity..

A great looking and sizeable cigar that burns evenly. It has a fairly loose draw, and gives plentiful of smoke. Flavours begins with cedar and maybe hints of honey. This kind of faded away at the mid point. Then for the remaining half it remained very woody and just a tobacco like taste. It has nice mild aroma, but flavours became unintresting in the last third. This has been resting in my humidor for just over 2 months - perhaps and aged one would make it better.
