Since 1986, La Unica cigars have been offering an outstanding premium cigar value unparalleled in the industry.

As with many classics, La Unica Dominican Primeros came from humble beginnings. More than twenty years ago, before the cigar boom, J.C. Newman Cigar Company patriarch Stanford J. Newman, challenged his good friend Carlos Fuente, Sr. with an idea that had never been tried in the cigar industry – to develop a rich, flavourful, superb-tasting premium cigar and package it in an inexpensive cellophane bundle, without costly boxes and trimmings found with other premium cigars. Until that time, factories only packaged their “seconds” in bundles.

La Unica cigars are smooth enough for every day but far from ordinary. Handmade by Tabacalera A. Fuente in the Dominican Republic, La Unica continues to be one of the finest cigars on the market.

Tasting Notes

Hand selected, perfectly aged blend of tobaccos make La Unica a favourite. Imagine a velvety, sultry beginning with hints of sweetness and fruit. As each perfectly blended leaf burns, the complexities of fine Dominican filler in La Unica blossom into a nutty, creamy, rich flavour. La Unica cigars are smooth enough for every day but far from ordinary.

This was a mystery selection, which previously have always been excellent. However, La unica was pretty much the worst cigar I’ve had. The construction was appalling the wrapper was flaky and so dry it was crumbling when touched. Was burning too hot and also had tunnelling, the only flavour from it was similar to a burn piece of meat that had been left on a bbq too long. Not sure if mine was a dud, but can’t recommend them and won’t be trying a second to find out.

Received as this month’s mystery cigar. Burn was superb with hardly any touching up required. Ash held well and only 1 relight required. Liked the size of this cigar. Mild to medium strength but not keen on the flavour at all, unfortunately.

Can I just take a second to say again, another AMAZING mystery cigar picked by the staff!! Picked up this stick this morning before sunrise, smooth peppery perfect draw on 1/3. 2/3 citrus and some cinnamon and more robust pepper on retro. Smoked all the way down to a lip burn 😂, didn't want it to stop. If you're on the fence, I suggest taking a punt. *Cheeky joke entry How does a cheese paint his wife? He double-Gloucester! 🧀

The La Unica No. 400 was a nice, warm, mild cigar. Personally, I picked up hints of sweetness and pepper throughout the smoke. It wasn’t the most generous cigar when it came to smoke output, but the overall experience was extremely pleasant. For a mystery cigar, I was pleasantly surprised. Not the most complex or powerful smoke, but for a midweek cigar, it was an enjoyable and easy-going choice. Definitely one I’d happily smoke again.
