Description

The Solani pipe tobacco brand was launched in 1988 by Herr Ridiger Will, Master blender and creator of the Borkum Riff brand of pipe tobaccos.

Creating a quality tobacco the Solani way involves extensive testing over which takes many weeks due to the natural ingredients of raw tobacco, which can have very different effects on the flavouring.

Solani offers a concise range of pure and flavoured pipe tobaccos, both in mixtures and in flakes, aromatics and non aromatics.

Tasting Notes

Solani Aged Burley Flake Blend 656 pipe tobacco is a skilful mixture of three aged Burley's. Dark brown Burley from Kentucky, light Burley from Brazil, and white Burley from Malawi. These combined give a very natural Burley blend with no additives or flavourings.

Naturally sweet, which is unusual for a Burley.  It has a subtle nuttiness of Pecans or Brazil nuts with a slight earthiness and hints of coffee hues to enjoy too.

Appearance; A close cut flake, very easy to break down in the hand resulting in a nice flake, easy to place in the pipe. Aroma; [before smoking] = pleasantly nutty. Smoking is as follows; A very deep and extremely pleasant taste from the mature Burley tobacco, with a hint of nuts, sweet after tastes and a hint of faint background spice. Cool and slow burning, if correctly packed into a briar pipe. [Note; if packed too tight, it will not burn smoothly, resulting in clinkers, however, if packed correctly, will burn to a white ash] Strength; Medium to strong [dependent on the experience of the smoker] Overall impression; An excellent Pipe Tobacco showing the best of the tobacco blenders art. Recommended for experienced Pipe Smokers only. Alfie - Turmeaus Liverpool
