ROMEO Y JULIETA

Named after William Shakespeare’s tragic lovers, the origins of Romeo y Julieta as a Havana date back to 1875.

The brand rose to international fame during the early years of the 20th Century under the direction of Don ‘Pepin’ Rodriguez, a talented promoter who was amongst the first to recognise the power of the cigar band. During his heyday no less than 20,000 different bands were used in the production of cigars.

Winston Churchill became a devotee of the brand and following his visit to Havana in 1946, his name has not only been commemorated on a band, but it has also served to describe the marque’s most famous size – Romeo y Julieta Churchills.

Romeo y Julieta’s balanced and aromatic blend of selected filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo zone make it the classic medium bodied Havana.

Today Romeo y Julieta is as well known around the world as ever and offers one of the widest range of tripa larga, totalmente a mano – long filler, totally handmade – sizes of any Havana brand.

NO. 2

Romeo's best known and most popular size. A round cigar, as opposed to the pressed Petit Corona, it comes in a cedar-lined tube. Medium flavoured elegance ready where and when you want it.

Tasting Notes

Very nice draw and burn. Mild, fruity flavours with undertones of leather and earth.

"A skinny, veiny cigar with easygoing notes of flowers and herbs balanced by spicy, peppery undertones and sweet hints of caramel and cocoa..."

Had one of these last week, was a good proper Cuban but lacked a bit of punch. Had a good solid draw until I hit the last 2 inches when the draw became tight, would usually enjoy the last bit of a cigar the best but really didn't with this one. Have two more of them to try so hopefully I just got a bad one.

Light to Medium strength and flavour. In my opnion its a straight forward uncomplicated smoke. That doesn't really change much with its subtle creamish flavours, and hints of white pepper. It did get a bit more spicy towards the end, however I was puffing more frequently at that point. This is a good solid cigar, above average and enjoyable.

Man this stick surprised me, didn't expect anything special but it really did the trick. Lovely smoke, tasty, nice smell, great draw, creamy smoke with earthy tastes and a little spice. I'm here to buy a few more in fact, so is there any better recommendation than that? Give it a go, bargain for the great quality smoke.

A great Cigar. Nice draw, not to strong but still packs a punch. Subtle flavours develop throughout the smoke making it a thouroughly enjoyable experience. Not the most complex cigar, but it has enough to keep you interested. A Cigar to unwind with after the working day.

A very nice smoke indeed! Burnt and held ash well, good draw and a very pleasant aroma, looking forward to smoking another.
