ROMEO Y JULIETA 

Named after William Shakespeare’s tragic lovers, the origins of Romeo y Julieta as a Havana date back to 1875.

The brand rose to international fame during the early years of the 20th Century under the direction of Don ‘Pepin’ Rodriguez, a talented promoter who was amongst the first to recognise the power of the cigar band. During his heyday no less than 20,000 different bands were used in the production of cigars.

Winston Churchill became a devotee of the brand and following his visit to Havana in 1946, his name has not only been commemorated on a band, but it has also served to describe the marque’s most famous size – Romeo y Julieta Churchills.

Romeo y Julieta’s balanced and aromatic blend of selected filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo zone make it the classic medium bodied Havana.

Today Romeo y Julieta is as well known around the world as ever and offers one of the widest range of tripa larga, totalmente a mano – long filler, totally handmade – sizes of any Havana brand.

Extremely surprised by this cigar, it started off with a spicy and nutty flavour and the 2nd half consisted of a spicy and creamy flavour. The cigar also lasted me 45 minutes and I didnt have to relight at all throughout.


Exactly as described, a nice cigar in a small format. I was sipping away for 45 minutes, whilst catching up on the YouTube Virtual Herf - Davidoff Special 53 with Klaas Kelner. I cannot believe this cigar lasted that long. I did take it down to the last few centimetres and due to the sipping it didnt get too hot at any point.


When I remove the cello I spend a good few minutes just smelling the cigar, it smells sweet. And admiring the construction, impressively well made. The smoke is flavourful and smells rich. Ash holds. Solid 20 minute smoke.


You really cant fault these for the price. Perfect to keep in the humidor for a daily smoke or when time is short. Take your time with them though as they are easy to overheat.


These took me by surprise, I didn’t expect such a satisfying smoke and for 15 minutes I was pleasantly distracted by their tastiness, mild aroma and subtle blend of flavours throughout. Definitely worth trying with a nice, strong coffee

