My first impressions of the Regius corona cigar is a well constructed cigar with a tight roll. A little niggle about the cap, it was too small! After cutting the rest of the cap peeled away. After lighting I noticed the draw was loose and supplied a sufficient amount of smoke. The taste in the first third was of a sweet nutty flavour, slightly peppery which was pleasant. The second third was of woody notes. Half way through it started to side burn which I had to touch up with a lighter which led to the first ash fall, closer inspection it came apparent that there was a bit of an air gap which explained the side burn, easily corrected and a consistent smoke afterwards. The final third earthy notes came through with a slight sweetness with two more ash falls. Overall this was a subtle smoke with a good burn throughout with the one issue, wasnt over powering in the slightest. Id definitely buy this cigar again for my humidor especially for the price.

A disappointing cigar. Evenly burned but bitter tasting - at least for the first three quarters. Finally in the last quarter some decent nutty flavour. But alas, too little, too late.

If this cigar was a colour it would be beige. I tried the Regis Corona as an alternative to the Inka Blue which I love. On the positive side it was well constructed, burned evenly if a little quickly. However it tasted of nothing of note. Bitter, a little harsh and just bland. I have some more and will revisit and re-review if the others show any improvement. Not a good first impression.

Delighted to report that I had a post prandial Regius coronas, after my earlier poor experience of one I bought of three earlier today, and how different it was. I lit it with a little 'blow torch' lighter and it responded in splendid fashion. The cigar lasted for just under an hour of constant smoking, going out only once towards the end. It relit without any difficulty or detriment to its continued pleasure, down to the last inch. As I am not a connoisseur I would not venture taste descriptions but I can say that it was consistent throughout, pleasurably mild and flavoursome, even in both draw and burning. I am so pleased to be able to contradict the previous review and can confirm that, for a £6 cigar it was a snip. I have been looking for a good lunchtime or coffee break stick and this would fill those boots suitably.

I had one of the Regius robustas last evening, which ended far too soon after a most satisfying and enjoyable 30 minutes. I was so impressed I returned to Turmeaus in Liverpool this morning and purchased three of the Regius coronas, in eager anticipation of perhaps a quicker (being a little slimmer) burn, but equal pleasure. I am sorry to say that the first one has been a disaster, cigar wise. Having lit it in patient manner with a wooden taper, adding to the anticipated pleasure of the impending smoke, the cigar never really drew a good mouthful from the outset. Within minutes it had 'tunnelled' and burnt out one side. I gave up less than a third into it, and watched it extinguish itself almost immediately. I am now in some trepidation of trying either of the remaining two. There was no real taste other than a bitter, harsh and flavourless haze. I cut the spent section only to discover that it had burned a tunnel straight through to the smoking end. Little wonder it was hot and very unpleasant. I am sure that these things happen from time to time, and no fault of the helpful staff in this excellent repository. Just a bad one perhaps. To compare these Regius coronas I also bought identical length and girth coronas by Oliva and Makanudo, having higher expectations. I hope I am proven wrong by the remaining Regius' and if so, will happily report back with an adjusted opinion more akin to my first impression.
