Por Larranaga is a brand with a long history. Founded in 1834, it enjoys a well earned reputation for its consistency and good presentation. Por Larrañaga cigars are handmade using long-filler tobacco leaves harvested from the world famous Pinar del Rio region of Cuba.

Globally the range includes cigars made using both the ‘tripa larga, totalmente a mano’ – long filler, totally hand made technique, and the ‘tripa corta, totalmente a mano’ – short filler, totally handmade method, but in the UK only the former is offered.

MONTECARLO

Although cigars of this shape are now often overlooked in favour of something wider, anyone picking up a Montecarlos will discover an elegant and chic, light to medium bodied smoke full of subtlety and nuance. For the discriminating smoker.

Really enjoyed the Por Larrañaga Montecarlo. It’s a slim stick but lasted longer than I expected—easy 40–45 mins. Smooth draw, light and creamy with some sweet, almost honey-like notes. Just a chill, tasty smoke I’ll definitely keep around.


First try of this as I like a panatella occasionally and the cohiba is just a bit too pricey now to justify for such a small smoke. Pleasantly surprised, lots of smoke and perfect draw throughout, ash held well too Woody with hints of nut shells. Second third was especially tasty as it became smoother and creamier with a slightly bitterfinsh Recommend

Very pleasant mild to medium cigar that lasted about 45 minutes. Draw was tight to begin with, so one start off for that, but soon fixed with my PerfecDraw. Smooth buttery, vanilla notes which paired beautifully with a late morning coffee.


Well I have read some reviews about this cigar going out but that was not my experience. A very pleasant cigar which I enjoyed for about 30 minutes and it remained true to the end. It was my first try of a Por Larranaga, having received it through the monthly sample and I will be ordering more of them.


The condition and construction of this cigar was not good, especially the wrapper which was in a poor state. Also, l could hardly keep it a light. This is the problem with Cuban cigars, quality control can be poor at times. I was looking forward to trying the Por Larranga - Montecarlo, sadly this was not an enjoyable experience.

