PARTAGAS

If there is one building in Havana that excites cigar lovers above all others it is the old Partagas factory. You can find it at No. 520 Industria Street, just behind the Capitol building, in the heart of the city.

The factory was opened in 1845 by Don Jaime Partagas and was still operational until just a few years ago. It is now closed with plans to transform it into a cigar museum well under way. The Partagas shop on the ground floor however, remains open and is well worth a visit.

A Partagas is immediately recognisable by its deep, earthy flavour. The character of its blend springs from a selection of filler and binder tobaccos grown in the Vuelta Abajo zone and chosen for their unmistakable richness of flavour and aroma.

Partagas come in a wide array of shapes and sizes notably the Lusitania and the 8-9-8, a cigar that is named after the way it is arranged in its box.

But perhaps the best known of all Partagas is the Serie D No.4, the robusto size that formed part of the legendary Partagas alphabet series that dates back to the 1930s. In 2005 a Pirámide, the Partagas Serie P No.2, was added to the range, which has fast become the cigar of choice amongst lovers of full-flavoured Havanas. In 2011 the Serie D No.5 and the heavy ring gauge Serie E No.2 extended the alphabet series once again. 2014 saw the most recent addition to the range when the diminutive D.6 was added.

MINIS

Presented in a stylish pack of 10 minis. Intense, rich, earthy aromas for which the brand is renowned. Made from leaves harvested from the same plants used for hand made Habanos. Ideal for a taste of Cuba during a brief alfresco smoking break.

These are the best mini cigars on the market true Havana tobacco taste and they smoke less hot and spicy than other mini's, light them like a normal cigar by lighting the very tip in your hand not in your mouth like a cigarette, doing that you are wasting about 1/4" of the cigar, draw very slowly like drawing on a larger cigar not like a cigarette, doing this the smoke will be cooler and less bitter, purging the cigar once or twice during smoking by gently blowing through the cigar will reduce any bitterness, REMOVE THE CIGARS FROM THEIR TIN AND PUT THEM IN YOUR HUMIDOR TO REST FOR A WEEK TO ABSORB SOME MOISTURE the small surface area of these cigars means they shed moisture far faster than larger cigars and become drier quicker and a dry mini cigar will burn faster, hotter and more bitter than one that is correctly moisturized.

These are an excellent mini cigar for a quick 10 minute coffee break packed full of Cuban tobacco taste and to my mind smoke cooler and less spicy than the Cohiba Mini's, if you carnt afford Cuban cigars on a regular basis then a couple of tins of these will give you the equivalent of over 3 hours of Cuban cigar taste that wont break the bank and you can steam off the sticker from the metal tin and use the same tin when going out. If you have some money to spare I would highly recommend the Series D No.4 robusto and the Series P No.2 pyramid both are superb 5 star + cigars

Looser rolled than the Cohiba or RyJ minis, with little tendency to go out. Taste-wise they're not as spicy/leathery as a RyJ mini, but still have the Cuban Partagas essence and a bit of strength to them. A pity the Cuban minis aren't rolled slightly fatter though - it could boost the flavour no end.

I usually smoke Montecristo minis but these Partagas have more taste and are even slightly cheaper! (Plus they remind me of my holiday visit to the factory in Havana). recommended.
