Nostrano del Brenta are hand finished cigars and are the only cigar brand produced in Italy, which is from entirely Italian tobacco. Other cigars contain a lot of Kentucky tobacco imported from the US.

The Nostrano del Brenta tobacco is unique to the Veneto (pronounced VENNETTO) region of northern Italy, of which Venice is the capital. There is just 1 harvest a year given the European climate.

The tobacco is reputedly from Cuban seed brought by a monk into Italy around 1550. The tobacco is recorded to have been produced for smoking from 1763.

All the cigars have names associated with the Venetian state or Italy - Il Doge was the historic ruler of Venice, Casanova the famous romantic lover, Clandestino is in relation to historic clandestine tobacco smuggling of which they are very proud, and Taliano refers to a half-Italian community that formed in South America. Il Doge and the Taliano cigars are the traditional Italian shape - like an airship - and which are meant to be cut in half and shared with your friend over an espresso or beer.

The producer is akin to a regionally devoted craft beer producer. They are very proud of their heritage and also their production which is local to them and largely unchanged over time.

This small cigar is perfect for a quick smoke break whilst still getting the full satisfaction of smoking a larger cigar. Due to the small size, the quality of taste comes immediately after the first draft. The typical aromas of Tobacco Nostrano del Brenta are enhanced by a specific manufacturing process, which provides leaves used in wrapper and binder of the cigar pass twice in the fermentation cell.

The Il Ducale is obtained by a careful selection of short filler Tobacco Nostrano leaves, which have been aged for over three years before using them.

Tasting Notes

The characteristic of the tobacco is that it is a mild but flavoursome smoke, with a hazelnutty flavour. It is accessible to the new, or irregular cigar smoker, as the strength is not overpowering and the nicotine content isn’t such that it will be too much for the average person.

I don’t normally do reviews, but I had to let you all know about these beauties! My favourite larger cigar is the RYJ Kings, but due to the cost I can’t afford to smoke them as often as I would like to, I’ve tried the cheaper Cubans and realised if you want a decent Cuban don’t go cheap!! After reading the reviews about these I decided to give them a go, and what a good decision it was, I first tried smoking a full one which I admit was not so good until I got half way through it, so I took the advice from other reviews and cut them in half, as they are tapered at both ends this gives you 2 for the price of one, I get 20/30mins from each half which makes them exceptionally good value, they are firm to hold right to the end and taste fantastic, they are a credit to Italian cigars! I will definitely be buying more of these to smoke in between my RYJ’s, Make sure you’ve got a decent cutter to cut them or you may damage the outer leaf which makes them more difficult to light 👍 Let’s hope C-gars don’t tell Nostrano to stop tapering them at both ends or that would ruin it! 🤣🤣🤣.

I have definitely found my go to cigar. I found this cigar nice and smooth and the smoke light and crisp, would completely recommend especially for beginners.

Bought these as an experiment, turned out pleasantly surprised. Is it a premium Havana cigar? No, its decidedly rustic, but thats part of the appeal. Bigger than expected, I cut one in half and smoked it just now. A great easy draw, smooth burn, and flavours of cured tobacco, wood, nuts, and something almost herbaceous or floral around the edges at times. Considering you can get six cigars out of a pack of three, these are good value, and a fine smoke that is well worth a go if youre curious. Medium strength, but quite full flavoured.

Little bit disappointed from the taste of them. It is not bad value. Although removing the cellophane and placed in the humidor worked better to me, next time probably I will prefer decent size Habanos cigarillos rather than this.
