MONTECRISTO

Montecristo is the best known and probably the most appreciated brand of Havanas throughout the world. It forms the benchmark for many Havana smokers against which other brands are judged.

The name comes from Alexandre Dumas’ famous novel ‘The Count of Montecristo’, which was a firm favourite when read to the Torcedores (cigar rollers) at the factory where it was founded in 1935.

The original Montecristo range of sizes was composed of a narrow assortment numbered from 1 to 5. Today it consists of a wide variety of vitolas to cover every level of the cigar enthusiast’s needs.

Whether it is within the classic medium-to-full line, the lighter Open Series or the newer, more powerful, Linea 1935, Montecristo’s perfectly balanced blends are all created exclusively with selected filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo zone, home of the finest tobaccos in the world.

ESPECIAL NO. 2

Another vitola that Montecristo shares with Cohiba - Slender ring gauges may not be in vogue these days, but 38 is sufficient to house the full Montecristo blend in a dapper shape.

Tasting Notes

This is a rich and flavourful cigar, with the typical Montecristo profile. Burns well and not too fast, but certainly not a slow burner. A superb cigar for after dinner or late afternoon.

Enjoyed on a Sunday afternoon after a BBQ. Slow burning, smooth cigar. Plenty of flavour, very well constructed, and easy to light & draw. After tastes of wood, leather, and subtle hints of coffee / cocoa. Would definately buy again as a "staple" smoke.

Very surprising amount of flavour and strength in this cigar, I don't mean harshness or overpowering spice from not being matured enough, but in the last half the flavour just becomes very full and rich, creamy, tangy and of course the Monte bitter-sweetness. Some vegetal notes amongst ground coffee, cocoa and vanilla. An extremely elegant cigar which punches above it's weight and develops greatly as it burns down. Complex, rich and delicious :o) written by A. Dyer

A beautifully constructed cigar. And, although small in gauge there is a wonderful build of flavours. There are hints of the earth, leather and wood flavors. And, a somewhat short finish. written by Michael
