MONTECRISTO

Montecristo is the best known and probably the most appreciated brand of Havanas throughout the world. It forms the benchmark for many Havana smokers against which other brands are judged.

The name comes from Alexandre Dumas’ famous novel ‘The Count of Montecristo’, which was a firm favourite when read to the Torcedores (cigar rollers) at the factory where it was founded in 1935.

The original Montecristo range of sizes was composed of a narrow assortment numbered from 1 to 5. Today it consists of a wide variety of vitolas to cover every level of the cigar enthusiast’s needs.

Whether it is within the classic medium-to-full line, the lighter Open Series or the newer, more powerful, Linea 1935, Montecristo’s perfectly balanced blends are all created exclusively with selected filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo zone, home of the finest tobaccos in the world.

NO. 2

If ever one brand has come to dominate a particular vitola, this is it. The classic Piramide or 'torpedo' size. Easy burning with a controlled release of faithful montecristo flavours; many devotees look no further than this.

Tasting Notes

This is a rich and flavourful cigar and it burns very well. A bomb of rich spices including cinnamon and a pleasant sweetness emerges throughout the cigar. A great Havana among fine gauges.

93 / 100

"Complex and tasty, this torpedo shines with a chocolate-and-vanilla resonance from first puff to last. It’s complemented by notes of almond paste, leather and cinnamon. Balanced and delicious..."

Fist one of these consumed yesterday after sitting in my humidor for about 8 months. Was bought as a gift and was waiting for an opportunity to try this as had quite a few of the Diplomaticos No.2 And been very impressed. Have to say this stick wasn’t a disappointment either, great even burn, good draw all the way and a good 1.5-2 inches before losing any ash. Only had to re-light once about 3/4 in after losing majority of ash and sat for a few mins. Will be on the shopping list for next time

I purchased a single Monte 2 back in August 2018 and finally got around to smoking it.The flavours were phenomenal; smooth and creamy to begin with, gradually developing into a combination of almond, cedar and spice, the smoke leaving a oily finish on the lips and palette. Unfortunately the construction was definitely not up to scratch; The draw was so loose it felt like I was sucking through an empty straw, I had to double-puff regularly to get decent smoke output and it went out 3-4 times in the space of an hour if I put it down for more than just 30 seconds. In the final third the cigar finally started smoking like a chimney and the flavours really kicked it up a notch but the strength kicked up too and since Im a bit of a lightweight I had to lay the cigar down... before having a little lie down myself! Despite all the problems I had with the Monte 2 it was still by far the most enjoyable and best tasting cigar I have had to date. On my budget the Monte 2 is by no means an everyday smoke and buying a 10/25 is unlikely, but setting aside a pack of 3 for special occasions is definitely not out of the question! The Monte 2 has really shown me why Cuban cigars hold such status, it really is in a league of its own.

My first time trying the No2, i usually smoke the No3 or 4, this is without doubt the best cuban cigar Ive had to date. Bit pricey buying the pack of 3 but worth every penny when you smoke it. Definitely recommend

This is my desert island cigar. If I had a constant supply of these, a fathomless wine cellar, an equally endless supply of good books and a comfy chair parked on a white sand beach I would spend whatever years were to be given to me reclining in joyous repose and staring wistfully into an infinite middle distance

Just simply has to be 5*. Smoked one of these on my brothers wedding evening with a few chaps and the aroma was amazing - Family members who aren't even fans of cigars were keen to smell the smoke due to the richness of the smell. Would smoke another & recommend trying for the price!!
