JOSE L. PIEDRA

José L. Piedra is a particularly noteworthy Havana not only because its blend is composed of filler tobaccos grown exclusively in the Remedios tobacco region (formerly called Vuelta Arriba), but also because it is made using the ‘totalmente a mano, tripacorta’, or ‘totally hand made, short filler’ technique.

The Piedra family came to Cuba in the 1880s from the Spanish province of Asturias. They settled near the town of Santa Clara, which lies at the heart of the Remedios region where tobacco has been grown since the 16th Century, and started to make cigars.

The family’s second generation led by José Lamadrid Piedra, whose name is commemorated today, founded and developed the brand.

All of the José L. Piedra sizes are made from Remedios tobaccos using the traditional ‘tripa corta, totalmente a mano’ – short filler, totally handmade technique.

CAZADORES

Immediately you will notice the distinct, somewhat rustic, medium to full taste of the Remedios tobaccos in these cigars. A cigar for the great outdoors.

Has a really bad experience with the Cazadores, so i wasn't expecting much from this. I'm glad i wasn't. It wasn't as harsh as i'd feared, but it was totally plugged somewhere towards the head, so i had to cut it in the middle and smoke it from there. Found it to be almost just as unpleasant as the other cigar i've tried of this brand, and don't plan on trying them again.

It's a cliche but you really do get what you pay for. This doesn't compare with any of the other (handful) of Cubans I've tried but it is less than half the price too. Not the nicest looking wrapper. Pre lighting the aroma is smooth and a little woody but with no particular character being given away. Once lit the same applies. The flavour to me was plain and became spicy at around half way. Fairly tight draw but cool, smooth smoke and not at all unpleasant. Lasted about half an hour. Would recommend as an good everyday sort of cigar.

absolutly spon on!i liked the easy draw and cool medium density smoke.just the right type to relax you on an afternoon out in the garden.flavour is quite light and creamy and they don't last too long either.(which keeps the mrs sweet!!!)also a good price for people like me who have modest careers.

Great Smoke with an o.k construction with a bit of an uneven roll overall, fairly simple band. Although big points on flavours and texture. Great for an everyday smoke, inexpensive cubans to satisfy any cigar smoker both in price and overall experience.
