JOSE L. PIEDRA

José L. Piedra is a particularly noteworthy Havana not only because its blend is composed of filler tobaccos grown exclusively in the Remedios tobacco region (formerly called Vuelta Arriba), but also because it is made using the ‘totalmente a mano, tripacorta’, or ‘totally hand made, short filler’ technique.

The Piedra family came to Cuba in the 1880s from the Spanish province of Asturias. They settled near the town of Santa Clara, which lies at the heart of the Remedios region where tobacco has been grown since the 16th Century, and started to make cigars.

The family’s second generation led by José Lamadrid Piedra, whose name is commemorated today, founded and developed the brand.

All of the José L. Piedra sizes are made from Remedios tobaccos using the traditional ‘tripa corta, totalmente a mano’ – short filler, totally handmade technique.

BREVAS

The Latest addiction to the Jose L Piedra's range and made with the brand's signature medium to full blend of short filler tobaccos.

Tasting Notes

This medium-bodied cigar will provide an earthy taste with a great draw and creamy smoke. Hints of salt and tanginess will hit the lips giving an interesting flavour.

Bought these accidentally in my favorite shop in Utrecht, Holland, where they were recommanded as a cheap but very acceptable alternative to more expensive cubans. Acceptable indeed, though i liked the "Cremas" better; the "Nacionales" is really too filled with tobacco, which makes it burn uneven. But I like the taste, and for the price its good, to my opinion. written by Andreas van der Velde

As a cigar smoking novice, I decided on a box of these cigars as they seemed good value for money....and I think I made a good choice! My first one from the box burned as evenly as one could wish for, and the taste was very pleasing- I can tell you they go particularly well with a good quality Shiraz Cabernet;-). In all, I would recommend these to anyone looking to start smoking Cuban cigars on a budget, or otherwise. Thanks to Mr Piedra, and thanks to Mitchell at Cgars Ltd for all his help and advice. 5 Star rating reserved only for perfection....and Muhammed Ali. 4/5 is what i say. written by Roon, UK

well what a nice one from the makers, was recommended by the lady at cgars, and she knows what she talking about. easy to draw and stays alight all the time, its very mild so may not appeal if you want it to be a bit stronger. very easy to draw and smooth.will be buying more. nice one and thanks to cgars recommending it. written by mark uk

A bargain choice for a decent smoke. Better than many pricier cigars ive tried, a fine choice for dishing out to friends at weddings etc. written by Nathan Francis GBR

I could not believe the quality of this Cuban for the price. I lit it not expecting much, but I was most pleasantly surprised. Nice cocoa and spice flavour with noticeable aroma. Not the best burner in the world, but excellent for its unknown status. written by Mihai
