Jose L. Piedra is a particularly noteworthy Habano not only because its blend is composed of filler tobaccos grown exclusively in the Remedios tobacco region, but also because it is made using the totally hand made, short filler technique.

The Piedra family came to Cuba in the 1880's from the Spanish province of Asturias. They settled near the town of Santa Clara, which lies at the heart of the Remedios region where tobacco has been grown since the 16th century, and started to make cigars.

Tasting Notes

This medium-bodied cigar will provide an earthy taste with a great draw and creamy smoke. Hints of salt and tanginess will hit the lips giving an interesting flavour.

havent had a bad one of these cigars yet, working my way through a box at the moment. all of the sticks out of it so far have burned even and consistent, certainly better than one of the pricier cubans I had at the weekend, was dissapointed with the offering from the bigger name in comparison. I am noticing a big difference in them as they are left in my humidor, a little age (even a few weeks) seems to make a big difference to the smoke. my advice would be to suck on one and see what you make of it. written by CBD

The reviews (net-wide) for these cigars seem polarised between glorious praise and damning criticism. I have smoked many Jose Piedras, all 3 of the easily available sizes in fact, and can honestly say that they are a very palatble and enjoyable brand. The Nacionales in paricular are a great easy going cigar, cheap enough to pass some around your friends, yet sophisticated enough to really enjoy. No, they are certainly not world class items, but they are no worse than many I could name that sell for twice the price. Go on, put your prejudices aside for a moment and try one. I expect youll be pleasantly surprised; I was :) written by Medic Mike

I forgot one little detail: in Holland cigars are a lot cheaper. Let me stay befriended with this company, and just recommand to you all a stay in Holland. The weather is not that bad here, after all. And Utrecht is a nice city (the shop is called "De Oude Tijd", close to the "Janskerk") written by Andreas van der Velde
