First off an admission, Im a new cigar smoker. Ive been smoking a pipe for the past 18 months but never really felt at home with it. The bad smokes outweighed the good by some margin. Ive tried cigars before but due to limits on my personal finances theyve all been at the bottom of the budget ladder. Small, harsh and very hot would best describe them. Then someone gifted me some quality Cuban and New World cigars and I was hooked. Had a kind of where have you been all my life moment. I knew I was a convert but the budget restrictions remained so I had to look for what I could afford. After some research I first tried a Wintermans Corona Sumatra from my local Asda and was pleasantly surprised. Thought it wouldnt hurt to give these a go. Can only say that to my newbie palate they are very acceptable indeed. Low price, good draw, tightly packed, and only really get too hot in the last quarter, and Ive even got around that by employing one of my pipes. Slip the butt in and continue with a very pleasant smoke down to the nub! Sorry of that offends you experienced cigar smokers. Ive put in an order for some higher quality smokes (though still at the budget end) but would heartily recommend these to any beginner like me. Ill be buying more thats for certain.

Not a lot in the pre light fragrance. Upon lighting the initial draw was very light and reminded me of a hamlet. Slight sweetness, a bit of a light leathery taste. As the first third continued these tastes got stronger and the sweetness levels reduced. By the end of the first third the sweetness was gone and the taste was slightly bitter. The burn was good and even for the first third. No surprises in the second third: the taste of leathery tobacco continue. The burn remains even and for the size of the cigar the ash hold together well. One thing that I noticed was that there is not a lot of smoke output from this small cigar. Into the final third and this cigar has quite a strong leathery taste, the bitter notes are a bit more prevalent. I decided to end this in the final third, I think I could have gotten another 5-10 minutes from it had I persevered, but there wasn't enough taste to make me want to burn my fingers. Overall this was an OK smoke, the cigar smoking time was exactly 25 minutes for me. It is a bit bland on the flavours, a mild cigar that did get a bit bitter towards the end. I'm not sure if I'd go out and buy more, but I certainly wouldn't refuse one if it was offered to me. An average smoke with limited flavours, but at £2 a stick then I wasn't expecting it to rival a premium cigar.

An excellent and good value every day cigar. Well made with a good burn and mellow flavour, Not to be rushed though - a good 30 minutes needed to enjoy.

These are my favourite everyday smoke, I found them to be sweet tasting and easy to smoke. They do however get hot if you rush them so allow a good half an hour to smoke these and they go nicely with some rich Italian coffee. I wouldn't recommend them for your first smoke though, my first every cigar was a Romeo y Julieta no 3 which are not too overwhelming for a first time smoke in my opinion.

I have to say, I've been smoking these for about three weeks now, and for machine rolled cigars, I love them. I've found them to be nice and smooth to smoke, and I can usually get a good 30 minutes out of them. They're not on the same level as Cuban cigars, but they're not meant to be. Worth the money.

These little half coronas generally get a bad rep - I decided to ignore that and give them a chance. Now, my hypothesis regarding their reputation is based upon the price-point being somewhat tailored toward the beginner. Generally, they'll be picked up on a whim as a first foray into cigars; the problem begins! These overheat VERY easily. If you don't respect that, the bitterness is staggering and very off putting. One has to realise that to enjoy these, you must give it time. I have no problems relaxing for a good 35 minutes with one! Take it slow and without the over-heating problems, they're a very tasty little smoke. Woody, earthy and as has already been mentioned, a nice slight sweetness. If you're looking for complexity, this isn't it. However, for good construction, great burn and a comfortable draw, all combined with a lovely smooth taste and pleasant oily texture - go for it! Less than £2 a stick.. come on. Get your self a pack (or two) and enjoy a guilt free, cheapo smoke with a few buddies. 5/5 can't fault them for the price.
