Glendronach 28 Year Old Grandeur Batch 11 - 48.9% 70cl

Glendronach 28 Year Old Grandeur Batch 11 is an official bottling which was produced in the Highland region of Scotland.

Glendronach produces a heavy spirit which blossoms with amazing fruity character after maturation in sherry casks, and Master blender Dr. Rachel Barrie has hand selected a small number of exceptional Oloroso casks for the 11th batch of The Glendronach Grandeur.

This 28 year old, limited edition release is a superlative representation of their signature style - rich, complex and full-bodied. 

In 1826 the exuberant and extroverted James Allardice, along with a consortium of local farmers, founded the distillery and began producing his "Guid GlenDronach" single malt. Unfortunately Allardice's marketing strategy of offering free drams to Edinburgh's "ladies of night", coupled with a fire at the distillery in 1837, led to him declaring bankruptcy.

Thankfully however, the story doesn't end there...

The distillery was rebuilt by Walter Scott in 1852, and although it has changed hands several times over the years (and was even mothballed between 1996 and 2000), it continues today; a firm favourite of Sherry Heads everywhere.

Intense and full-bodied with dark fruit notes on a base of velvet and fine leather. A crescendo of black cherry and espresso adorns each mouthful. Richly rewarding, with a persistent chocolate, liquorice and walnut finish.
