Glenallachie is a malt whisky distillery in Aberlour founded in 1967. Billy Walker, Graham Stevenson and Trisha Savage came together as The GlenAllachie Distillers Company Ltd to purchase the distillery in 2017.
Across the senior team the three directors of The GlenAllachie Distillers Company have almost 100 years experience in the Scotch whisky industry.
The distillery draws its water from spring fed and snow water fed streams on Ben Rinnes. It uses lightly peated malts.
The distillery uses a semi-lauter mash tun, and six stainless steel washbacks. It uses two lantern shaped wash stills, and two onion shaped spirit stills for distillation.
The distilled spirit is matured in used oak bourbon barrels.
This expression was distilled in 2014 and was put down to mature in a Panama rum barrel for 8 years.
Part of a limited release of 298 bottles, it was bottled at a strength of 63.7% abv. free from chill filtration and artificial colourings.
Nose: Rich and rum-forward, but not overwhelming. It features the signature, intense, and sweet Speyside spirit character.
Palate: Delicious, with the rum influence being very noticeable but well-integrated, complementing the spirit rather than masking it.
Finish: Long and rich, featuring strong, high-proof intensity that remains balance
