LA GALERA
On a warm and sunny day in Tamboril, considered to many as the cigar capital of the world, lying in the outskirts of Santiago, Dominican Republic, lies Jose Arnaldo Blanco, known to all as “Jochy”, puffing calmly on cigar. A man who has worked with tobacco for as long as he can recall and his unconditional love and passion for it is obvious to all.
Through hard work and determination, he’s grown and processed tobacco to perfection throughout his tenure as a manufacturer and grower for the last few decades, and his factory Tabacalera Palma has been the home for outstanding cigars that have gained the love and appreciation of smokers all over the world.
ANEMOI
The winds play a very important role when growing tobacco. The winds tell us when the best time to grow and where the best places to grow tobacco. When La Galera looked through history, they found the Greeks understood the importance of wind as well.
The Greeks had wind gods, and they were called Anemoi. Each direction had its own god. Boreas (North), Notos (South), Eurus (East) and Zephyrus (West). Each wind direction will help create a great crop or a bad one. Because of this La Galera thought it was fitting to finally pay their respects.
The Dominican Republic is no exception to the influence of these winds. They researched the Boreas, Notus, Eurus, and Zephyrus in the natural habitat of their tobacco.

"There is a grayish gleam to the wrapper of this dark robusto, which is woody and salty before showing a heavy, slightly harsh charcoal finish. It burns and draws evenly throughout."
