CUABA

Every Cuaba is made in the distinctive shape known as a double figurado, the style that at the end of the 19th Century was all the rage for Habanos.

Double figurados are at the pinnacle of the cigar makers' art and for this alone they merit a place in every cigar enthusiast's collection.

Cuaba, like Cohiba, is a Taino Indian word dating back to the time of Columbus. It was their name for a highly combustible bush, which the Indians used to light their 'Cohibas.'

Tasting Notes

90/100

"Though firm and floral at first, this thin perfecto opens up once it burns past the taper, revealing a tasty palate of graham cracker, leather and sweet caramel. The spicy finish shows bright notes of ginger and horseradish..."

Need to generously cut the end of this cigar in order to get a reasonable draw otherwise it is like trying to suck a football through a straw! That said, once lit it burns evenly and is a relatively pleasant smoke. It is quite strong with earthy flavours and has a sweetish aftertaste. Over a cup of coffee it lasted 30-40 minutes and left me feeling satisfied. I would most certainly consider purchasing more of these.

I found an uneven burn but with a nice easy draw. Medium strength with very little notes of anything unique. Would recommend many other cheaper priced cigars.

This is a middle of the road smoke all the way. Not unpleasant at all but not a great deal to excite the pallet. Earthy notes for sure and basic Cuban flavours. Great for newbie but try something more robust soon after to get an idea of the differences in brands.

I smoked this cigar accompanied with some 7 year old Havana Club: what a perfect combination! Medium flavour and slightly lighter strength than the 2 larger sizes but no less pleasing. The blend reminds me somewhat of the smaller Romeos although it does retain a reasonably distinct flavour. Medium colorado maduro wrappers, smooth and relatively vein free. A decent daytime smoke. If you like the Cuaba Tradicionales you may wish to try: Punch Petit Corona and H. Upmann Gran Corona.

I'm still a newish smoker myself and I bought one of these to tick off the list of things tried. I'd say it's a bit stronger than some of the other reviews suggest but it's a wonderful smoke. Sweet, strong coffee flavour and burnt evenly. One thing I've noticed with some of the slightly cheaper smokes is that the flavour profile doesn't change much through the journey. This cigar is not one of them. The flavours changed through out the smoke making it a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I'm going to order a couple packs and put them down to rest.
