CUABA

Every Cuaba is made in the distinctive shape known as a double figurado, the style that at the end of the 19th Century was all the rage for Habanos.

Double figurados are at the pinnacle of the cigar makers' art and for this alone they merit a place in every cigar enthusiast's collection.

Cuaba, like Cohiba, is a Taino Indian word dating back to the time of Columbus. It was their name for a highly combustible bush, which the Indians used to light their 'Cohibas.'

Tasting Notes

The odd one out in the Cuaba range due to their different cap construction, being flat and not pointed the current batch have superb colorado maduro dark and oily wrappers and taste slightly fuller in terms of flavour than the rest of the range. The darker wrappers give a slightly sweeter taste with hints of spice and underlying earthy tones that are very pleasing. A good, sweet finish that leaves you wanting another one.

----

93/100

"A primarily nutty-tasting petit perfecto with earthy hints of carob chips and a toasty undertone that reverberates on the long finish. The draw is open and full...."

I wanted to try this simply because of its interesting shape. I found it to be fairly pleasant, but like previous reviews explained, very tight. It was a lot of work for little gain. I won't try another one of these, but i won't rule out the brand either.

I am new to Cuaba but not to cigars. I was very impressed with this little cigar. It burned beautifully, I had no need to relight it and it lasted for what seemed like ages (I smoke too quickly). I usually smoke Partagas D4s and have been looking for a smaller and cheaper every day smoke. This is it. Wonderful rounded yet chacterful flavour that matures as you smoke it.

Hummm, I tried 2 of these and the first was completely "plugged" as they call it. No draw at all, I had to cut a quarter inch off the foot to get a slight draw, but i binned it half way in. The second to my amazement had a very tough draw again, but it was acceptable, no cutting needed thankfully. It eased a little as it drew along too and produced decent amounts of tasty smoke. Firstly these have a lovely flavour, rich, woody and leathery flavours and very potent aroma. I found this very strong, would be good even after a meal if you wnated a small cigar. I'm wary about the draw and construction of these, and not my cigar really, but if you like the shape and it's your sort of flavour they are fantastic...just as long as you get a good box. written by A.
