CUABA

Every Cuaba is made in the distinctive shape known as a double figurado, the style that at the end of the 19th Century was all the rage for Habanos.

Double figurados are at the pinnacle of the cigar makers' art and for this alone they merit a place in every cigar enthusiast's collection.

Cuaba, like Cohiba, is a Taino Indian word dating back to the time of Columbus. It was their name for a highly combustible bush, which the Indians used to light their 'Cohibas.'

Tasting Notes

The odd one out in the Cuaba range due to their different cap construction, being flat and not pointed the current batch have superb colorado maduro dark and oily wrappers and taste slightly fuller in terms of flavour than the rest of the range. The darker wrappers give a slightly sweeter taste with hints of spice and underlying earthy tones that are very pleasing. A good, sweet finish that leaves you wanting another one.

----

93/100

"A primarily nutty-tasting petit perfecto with earthy hints of carob chips and a toasty undertone that reverberates on the long finish. The draw is open and full...."

I understand these are made by R&J so I was somewhat disappointed with the construction. A rather tight draw coupled with the wrapper coming loose after lighting didn't impress. Although having to constantly touch up to stop it from tunnelling this was quite a nice cigar but because of the above mentioned problems I can't rate it above it's Oliva equivalent nor my two favourite cigars of the moment, namely the Inka Red Tres Petit Corona or the Bolivar Corona Junior.

Expensive for a tiny cigar, but for a quick fix it has a lovely taste. Perfect small cigar ;)

So I bought this one online and left it sitting for a year. Kind of reluctant to smoke something so different to the norm. Cracked it out on a recent holiday though and after smoking instantly ordered more! Initial light and draw were not easy or ideal, but once you get to the main body of the cigar it's all good. Taste, draw and burn were excellent. Sweet and nutty almost. Nice and cool and lasted longer than you'd expect. Can't wait for the next one!

Well not a bad smoke, sweet taste but let down by a hard draw and did have to touch the light a few times to keep it going. Im not impressed with cuban cigars latley, and fount C.Gars own house cigar is way better and almost hard to be beat right now! Now i only collect cubans, i dont smoke them as there are better now for my tastes.

I was a bit miffed at the shape and size of this cigar. Although it was a bit tight at the start it did begin to get a good draw part of the way down. I was surprised at how long it lated as it is so small. It was nice and earthy and surprisinglynstrong. A good little number for walking about.
