Description Ref # BO1100

The Bolívar Petit Coronas is a classic Cuban Mareva vitola cigar that offers a rich, full-bodied smoking experience in a compact format. Right from the cold draw, this cigar reveals notes of damp earth, cedar, and a subtle spice, with the unlit foot giving off aromas of cocoa, barnyard, and roasted nuts. Upon lighting, the first third of the cigar introduces bold flavors of dark earth, espresso, and black pepper. The smoke is thick and oily, with a slightly bitter chocolate edge and a strong mineral character that lingers on the palate. The retrohale delivers a peppery zing, true to Bolívar’s robust style of cigars.

Tasting Notes

Overall Impression:

The Bolívar Petit Coronas is a compact yet powerful Cuban cigar that delivers rich, full-bodied flavor in a classic Mareva format. Known for its earthy depth, notes of dark cocoa, espresso, leather, and spice unfold with balance and intensity throughout the smoke. Despite its smaller size, this cigar offers a complex and rewarding experience, making it a favorite among seasoned aficionados who value strength and traditional Cuban character in a shorter format.

Surprisingly strong for a petit corona, with a very full spicy aroma. If you want a mini corona gigantes, because you are short of time this is the mareva sized cigar for you. Dark wrappers, full flavour and full strength rounded off to near perfection.

Compare this Mareva with others and you will appreciate its richness of flavour. A powerful smoke and perhaps not for a beginner.

After sampler pack I decided to order some of these in preference to my usual Romeo y Julieta No2 / 3 which had lately suffered uneven burn and varied draw characteristics. In contrast these Bolivars have with one exception drawn very well with reasonably even burns. The flavour is a bit bland to my taste, but perfectly acceptable. At the price bearing in mind it's all going to HM Treasury who do so much to make our lives "interesting" they are fair value in my view. They will be always part of my futeure buy list.

Bolivars are delightful. That's a fact. I don't think I've ever had one that I didn't like however they are notorious for their strength (to the extent that on a tour of the Partagas factory in Havana we were directly warned). Whilst these aren't as good as the Belicosos, which are perhaps my favourite of the range, they are certainly a decent analog, and being smaller I don't feel dizzy and nauseated afterward. These babies are medium/full flavour - earthy, dark choc and spice - complemented perfectly by a glass of Islay whisky. I'm not completely sure why but generally I prefer to smoke these in the winter.

This was a great smoke. Nice smooth pepper tastes with hints of spice that's not over powering. The draw was very smooth and not too tight and the ash was solid and held well together. I had this in the sun in my back yard in New Zealand with a great glass of red. A fantastic smoke and would recommend to anyone.

I should have added to previous review great wrapper, great draw, neither too loose or tight! I recommend them.

Ive been trying a number of cigars recently, seeking out my preferrd. I really like the Inkas,Cohiba Siglos work well for me also, and I look forward to tasting more Cohibas as time goes by, but having just enjoyed an EXCELLENT Bolivar Petit Corona on Valentines Night, I have to review this. Creamy with a mild pepper taste as it goes down, but neither too mild like a Guantanamera, or too strong (for me) like the end of a Siglo I, I think Ive found my ideal. This Bolivar gave me 40 mins of absolute pleasure. Ill be in the Edinburgh shop tomorrow to stock up.
