Introducing a limited edition release from Nikka's Yoichi single malt whisky range.
This is a yeast-focused version produced through low-temperature fermentation. This whisky has been made with aromatic yeasts to bring forth the lighter aspects of the flavour profile.
Returning to Yoichi’s typical style, wonderfully complex peat, fruity and floral.
Nose: Defined, distinguished. On the first note, a herbaceous, salty and empyreumatic peat clearly dominates. When allowed to breathe, the fruits, flowers and mint make their way, all of which brings momentum to aroma palette.
Palate: Firm, robust. Giving its own take on the herbaceous, salty and emyreumatic register of the nose, the front palate evokes a field of barley swept with sea spray. The more earthy and rooted mid-palate pours blocks of peat onto the tongue. The end is floral and fruity.
Finish: Compelling length. Unexpectedly, the finish first invites us to bite joyfully into whole bunches of white grapes. Flavours of plum and pulp bring smoothness.
