Description

Fresh off the recent launch of its Prohibition Collection, today Buffalo Trace is lifting the curtain on its 2023 Antique Collection.

The Buffalo Trace Antique Collection (BTAC) is an annual release of limited-edition, highly sought-after whiskies produced by the Buffalo Trace Distillery.

Buffalo Trace is a renowned American whiskey distillery known for producing a wide range of whiskies, including bourbon and rye, under various brand names. Its most notable whiskey is perhaps Pappy Van Winkle, however, the distillery is also the home of popular whiskies such as Blanton’s, Eagle Rare, Weller and E.H. Taylor.

The BTAC is typically released in the fall of each year and consists of several different expressions, each with its own unique characteristics.

The whiskies in the collection are highly regarded by collectors, enthusiasts and connoisseurs due to their exceptional quality, rarity and complexity.

This wheated bourbon was distilled in the spring of 2011.

Uncut and unfiltered, it's around 12 years old, though it’s not proofed down like the core line product, Weller 12 year old.

This year’s expression was distilled in the spring of 2011, with barrels aged in Warehouses C, L, M and N, giving it an average age of 12+ years.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Waves of deep caramel sweetness, vanilla cream and especially juicy red fruit. This is an extremely fruit-forward bourbon nose, with cherry juice and brighter raspberry tart, hints of fudge, old oak and char.

Palate: On the palate, the first thing one notices here is textural. This is wonderfully silky and voluptuous in terms of mouthfeel, with the wheat in the grist having really modified the feel of this in the mouth.

Finish: Hints of maple and spice round things out.
