he first edition from Bannow Island uses barley grown by Ed Harpur on the extreme Southern coast of Co. Wexford where the salt-laden Atlantic winds and sandy soils create a unique and challenging terroir.
For maturation 35% of the casks used were first-fill American oak , 20% were virgin American oak, 25% were French oak and 20% were casks previously used to age vin doux naturel (fortified wines).
Only 8000 bottles have been produced, with only 1500 available in the UK.
Nose: Malty, very fresh red roses initially on the nose with milk chocolate. Warm vanilla custard and sweet dried fruit follow.
Palate: Vibrant and exuberant on the palate with white pepper, spicy cloves with a dried sweetness of salted caramel, malted biscuits and sherry.
Finish: An oily and dry finish.
