VEGUEROS

Originally introduced to the market in 1996 as a full-flavoured tribute to the countless generations of men and women that have cultivated tobacco in the world famous plantations of Pinar del Rio, the brand was relaunched in 2013 with a new medium-to-full bodied blend, new sizes and presented in unique tins of 16 cigars.

Vegueros translates into English as ‘Farmers’ and these cigars have happily maintained their rustic edge. The names of each the new vitolas have also taken inspiration from the Cuban farmers’ vocabulary.

All sizes of Vegueros are ‘tripa larga, totalmente a mano,’ – long filler, totally handmade.

MANANITAS

This unique size is named after the small leaves, and the first ones to be picked, found at the foot of Cuban tobacco plants. An affordable way to enjoy some of Cuba's finest tobacco.

Tasting Notes

This beautiful cigar is a creamy smoke with earth and grass flavours. The more you smoke the cigar, you will be met with hints of pepper which makes this unique cigar a pleasure to smoke.

"A mini torpedo with a firm draw and uneven burn. Peppery and strong, the cigar imparts notes of eucalyptus and ginger that builds to a malty finish..."

Got this cigar in my monthly subscription, 1st Cuban I have tried, had high expectations, nice looking cigar, lovely wrapper, 1st few draws was really nice, smooth and creamy with peppery notes, into half way and it changes flavour, found it very earthy with a lingering unpleasant after taste, every draw from half way had the nicotine kick of a mule, personally its not my kind of smoke.

This is a great cigar: smooth as silk but with a hint of mustard through the nose. I find it goes well with a pint of German wheat beer. An all round fabulous smoke.

Got this in my October sub pack. IÂ’m not a massive fan of Cubans. Too much hype when we have Davidoff, Fuente, Gurkha, AVO & many moreÂ… but this cigar has turned my head a little more. Short, stout and gorgeous are my first thoughts. A clean wrapper, and I love the dark colour. A binder that is eye catching and jazzy. Plenty of smoke with a dark chocolate and nutty sweetness with a smell of cedar. What a smashing cigar for the price. It lasted over the estimated time for about 49 mins (And I always think I smoke too fast, guess IÂ’m wrong) ItÂ’s got me more interested in Cubans in particular and this very brand. My burn was wonky through out, nothing major, but as I always say, IÂ’m sometimes a sloppy lighter. But the flavour, the feel in the hand, the construction was out of this world and such a relaxing 40+ mins of pleasure. IÂ’d whole heartedly recommend any day of the week. Thank you, Georgina for another fantastic choice. And as always, Cgars packaged and delivered perfectly.

An excellent all-rounder , i didnt want it to end , was left in the humidor for a month before i decided to smoke it , draw , burn were excellent . For me it was a very easy going creamy smoke with a hint of peppery spice throughout . This is my new favourite and will purchase a few more for a consistency test . I smoked this with a few pints of Frankiskaner Hefe weissbier out in the sun with good company .

As a relative newbie, my perspective may not be as informed as others, however for other people just coming into cigar smoking, I would give this one a miss. Very peppery at the start and certainly mellowed towards the end. The final third was certainly the most enjoyable part, but at that point it was starting to smoke hot, which took away from the flavour a little. Earthy and spicy notes throughout which became more balanced as it progressed, however it needed multiple touch ups and I found the burn quite uneven. Started this off with spring water, but I changed to an Irish single malt which greatly enhanced the experience and this is where the cigar became a more enjoyable experience. A good 30 to 40 minute smoke. Not bad, but not great.
