Since 1897 there has been a quiet revolution unfolding in the heart of the Scottish highlands.
High up amongst the smooth, rounded peaks of the Monadhliath Mountauns there is no room for the rugged and robust. Here, patience, a gentle hand and a passion for purity rule the day.
A core single malt from the ace distillery in the Highlands, this Tomatin is a 2016 replacement for the previous sherry-finished expression.
The Tomatin 12 Year Old is smooth and silky, having been matured in traditional Scotch Whisky, ex-Bourbon and ex-Spanish Sherry casks.
This experienced a redesign in 2014 and is now bottled at a pleasing 43% ABV.
Nose: A combination of fruit and spice, with fruity aromas of apple balanced out by a warming hint of spice from cinnamon and nutmeg as delicious milk chocolate rounds the nose of nicely.
Palate: Fruitier than the nose with citrus and orange peels before rich notes of woody spice arrive to deliver a nice kick.
Finish: Refreshing, the citrus noted from the palate are well balanced out by toasted oak.
