Ron Abuelo is produced at Panama's Varela Hermanos S.A. distillery in Pesé.
The 12 year rum is selected from rums aged in ex-bourbon and white oak barrels, which benefit from the effects of the tropical heat.
Ron Abuelo's secret weapon is their incredible stock of mature rum. For decades, Ron Abuelo has provided quality aged rums for a wide range of well-respected international brands.
It should be noted that the distillery was the first in Panama to stop the practice of burning sugar cane fields before harvest and are committed to other green/eco-friendly initiatives.
Sazerac 6 Year Old Straight Rye Whiskey - 45% 70cl
The one and only New Orleans original, Sazerac Rye symbolizes the culture and history of the Big Easy.
These spicy and assertive spirits fueled the whiskey culture of New Orleans and established the first American cocktail, The Sazerac.
Sazerac Rye Whiskey is rumored to be made from a mash of 51% Rye, 39% Corn and 10% Malted Barley.
Following distillation, the whiskey is aged for a minimum of six years in the Kentucky heat, before a small batch of barrels are married together.
Sazerac Straight Rye earned a score of 94.5 points from Jim Murray's Whisky Bible, and a score of 95 points from Wine Enthusiast, which called it a "Best Buy."
Tasting Notes
Ron Abuelo 12 Year Old Rum - 70cl 40%
Nose: This is a rich and toasty rum, with butterscotch, vanilla, mango and banana flavours.
Palate: It's a super smooth sipper that finishes with a creamy brown sugar sweetness and a herbaceous hint.
Finish: Rich, fudge and spice round off the slightly peppery finish.
Sazerac 6 Year Old Straight Rye Whiskey - 45% 70cl
Nose: Aroma of rye, malt, cinnamon, cloves and black pepper. The aroma gives way to notes of chewy caramel, vanilla, spicy rye.
Palate: Similar to the nose with the caramel, vanilla and spice with candied citrus.
Finish: Ends with a touch of dried fruits and rye.
