Description

Scallywag Cognac Finish Winter Edition is a limited-release Speyside Blended Malt Scotch Whisky finished in hand-selected French Cognac casks.

Rich and indulgent, it offers honeyed malt, figs, dates and orange marmalade, followed by sultanas, plum, black cherry, baking spices and chocolate orange, with a lingering finish of dried fruit, cocoa, ginger and cinnamon.

Limited to 5,100 bottles, it is non-chill filtered, natural in colour and bottled in a 70cl at cask strength of 54.2% ABV.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Honeyed malt and gentle spice lead into figs, dates and orange marmalade, followed by a sweeter layer of vanilla fudge. The Cognac cask influence complements rather than overwhelms the underlying Speyside malt. 

Palate: Rich and syrupy, with dark fruit immediately to the fore. Sultanas, plum compote and black cherry develop into baking spices and chocolate-coated orange, giving the whisky a distinctly indulgent winter profile. 

Finish: Long and warming, with dried fruits continuing into cocoa powder, ginger and cinnamon. The spice lingers alongside the richer fruit notes.
