ROMEO Y JULIETA

Named after William Shakespeare’s tragic lovers, the origins of Romeo y Julieta as a Havana date back to 1875.

The brand rose to international fame during the early years of the 20th Century under the direction of Don ‘Pepin’ Rodriguez, a talented promoter who was amongst the first to recognise the power of the cigar band. During his heyday no less than 20,000 different bands were used in the production of cigars.

Winston Churchill became a devotee of the brand and following his visit to Havana in 1946, his name has not only been commemorated on a band, but it has also served to describe the marque’s most famous size – Romeo y Julieta Churchills.

Romeo y Julieta’s balanced and aromatic blend of selected filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo zone make it the classic medium bodied Havana.

Today Romeo y Julieta is as well known around the world as ever and offers one of the widest range of tripa larga, totalmente a mano – long filler, totally handmade – sizes of any Havana brand.

NO. 3

Presented in a cedar-lined aluminium tube, this cigar is not as small a cigar as you might think - A decent ring gauge with a length that won't leave you out in the cold too long.

Tasting Notes

Spice, cedar and leather make this mild cigar a nice little treat. With a good burn and very good contrution his is very enjoyable.

A very good cigar, Im tellin you! I had this at the end of an expensive meal provided my dear wifes company (for her whatever world-beating results in finance or something). It was excellent. Good earthy and woody flavours, a superb draw, I wished it never ended (which given its size it was a lost cause, really). By all means, Id give it a go again. written by Mihai Balanescu

Now what to say - this was my first real cigar. Beautiful lunch time smoke in the sunshine under a leafy tree! Its not an exhibition, so be careful what accompanies it, but lovely subtle notes of earth and wood. A great introduction to Havanas. Smoke them for a while then move on and visit every now and then - good value for money. written by dawid crook GBR
